If everyone thought that nothing could make a difference then nothing would. However, we have seen that proven wrong when so many American's contacted their Congresspeople about raising the debt ceiling! Some members of the American public got sick of it and spoke out. There was a lot of coverage about this in the National News Programs about how many American's spoke out and what method that they chose to speak out with. With the advent of the internet, the world is changing. People who lived under harsh, brutal and oppressive conditions somhow managed to got on the internet and saw how other people in the world lived and finally decided to fight back! They want the freedom. Even if it is just a matter of signing or starting a petition (easy to do on the CARE 2 website), writing a blog or some e-mails, or posting ideas on the social network sites, or send an e-mail to their leaders (easy to do on Congress.org). All of these actions can help to make a difference! A small group of people in America decided that they didn't want to be ruled by King George of England anymore and got together and fought and won the American Revolution! Today, we don't need to get out a gun, just get a pen and paper or turn on our computers and get involved! TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We just have to get off the sidelines and into the game!

Uncle Sam rolling up his sleeves - It's time to take America Back.
I agree! However, I have been finding an amazing amount of apathy, feelings of helpless and listnessness out there. This entry started as a reply to one of my My Lot friends. I decided to take it to the next level and post it on my blog, "My Life in the Spin Cycle" at floridapoolbum.blogspot.com; on Facebook, My Space and in the Soapbox section of the Home Page of the "Congress.Org" website. Perhaps, it may help to get a few more people to become more active in the events that shape our lifes. This blog also gave some websites that people can use that are easy to use and very helpful. Information is power! The more information that we can pass on can help to make a difference.

Uncle Sam leading the call to get involved - A picture of "Uncle Sam" rolling up his sleeves with the caption, Get Involved, It's time to take America Back!
Yes, I am proud. I love to write and when I can compose a good piece that is well written and can still be beneficial to others, it does make me feel good. I also like to spread the word when I find such helpful websites as "CARE2" and "Congress.org". The "CARE2" site even has free e-cards that you can e-mail to friends and family. Since I wrote the piece about the 10% pay cut for The President, V. P. and all members of Congress, I started a petition to let our leaders know that it's about time that they started making some sacrifices, too. The link is: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/13/tell-president-obama-congress-to-cut-their-salaries-by-10-a-savings-of-over-9-million-a-year-if-they/ Please pass this petition along to all of your friends and family. Every little bit helps. Thanks, Tom

Look at the TEA Party and the power they have and yet there is no national leader just people concerned with the economy. In the 60's there was a similar movement started by local people protesting the treatment of Black people. Unfortunately the effort was infiltrated by radicals and cause the movement harm but the peaceful people were able to get their message across and get change.

Please don't get my started on the Tea Party Movement. From what I can see, they are the biggest group of hypocritical politicians there are! Looking at the Tea Party.net home page, I've read that they favor: Limited Federal Government, Individual Freedoms, Personal Responsibility to name a few. Let's start with Michele Bachmann, who seems to be a front runner in the Movements run for the Presidency. However, Michele Bachmann accepts Federal money for her clinic that tries to "cure" Gay people. In on move, Michele violated the first three principles of their movement. What her clinic is doing is not limiting but increasing Government spending, violoates the Individual freedoms of Gay People by taking federal money and calling them a disease. Where is the personal responsiblity there? In a CBS News report by Sharyl Attkisson, I learned the following: "Everyone agrees the old Stillwater Bridge linking Minnesota and Wisconsin is on its last legs and must go. But the fancy, $700 million replacement in the works costs double the cheaper alternative." "A bill co-sponsored by Republican freshman Sean Duffy paved the way for the expensive bridge to be built, even though he ran on this platform: "Our national debt has grown sky high thanks to the liberals in D.C. I'll work in Congress to cut spending and balance the budget." Her piece also states that, "Steve Ellis of Taxpayers for Common Sense sees it as a perfect example of excess Congress can't seem to resist, even during a time of fiscal crisis." "There's an alternative that's hundreds of millions of dollars less, maybe not the signature bridge, maybe not the tourist attraction, but actually could get the job done for far less money," Ellis says. Freshman Republican Steven Palazzo of Mississippi also ran as a fiscal conservative. Then he added more than $150 million to the defense budget, bound for a shipyard in his own district. Republican Duncan Hunter, now in his second term, added $5 million to the 2012 defense budget destined for Trex Enterprises, where employees are major donors to his campaign. Hunter also asked for $3 million in tax dollars for Trex in 2010. It's funny, I use to be a Republican in the 1970's & 80's, and I agreed with the Repbulican Party's basic principles at that time. However, the Republican Party got to greedy and to lax with the Bill of Rights. The points that Sharyl Attkisson mentioned in her article (listed above) shows the hyprocrisy of many Republicans.
