Peak question

Do you think modern life slash civilisation will come to a screeching halt due to "peak oil"? Or will something pull us out of the frying pan in time before we have to sit on the roadside begging for gas? There is talk that technology and plain old human inventiveness will save the day, getting us onto a new fuel or system in order to run modern life. Some claim that a multi-pronged approach is required, which includes nuclear, wind, and solar power. Another option is demand destruction by high gas prices. Few people drive or drive farther than required when the gas prices fly into the stratosphere. Some will run some errands on two wheeled transport such as a push bike or a moped which sips gas. New businesses will probably spike up like weeds to cater to the lower energy reality of peak oil. Growers of vegetables using roofs for green houses near their customers. Big chain stores like Walmart could see such green houses on their roofs. Your opinion?

I don't know that Walmart's roof will hold a garden, and I'm sure that they wouldn't want to pay someone to garden up there, but if it would hold the garden, they might rent it out...

Hydroponics are infinitely lighter than dirt. The roof isn't the only place for a garden to pop up. There is also the side of the store, an empty lot that can be so used, pot growers have been doing this for decades. You'd be amazed where pot plants have been found growing.

water is still pretty heavy, but no, I wouldn't be at all surprised where pot growers go...

Modern life in fact creates a void in relationships of all sorts. The hectic pace of life finds little time for sincere rapport among fellowmen which in turn makes relationships lacking sincerity and faith.
