inappropriate requests

I have read in my devotionals that if the request is wrong, God says No. Some prayer requests are too selfish. Some are simply inappropriate. Some have ulterior motives. So, when we make requests, ask God to show you whether your requests are appropriate or not. But we ourselves can also discern them if they are appropriate or not. Don't we?

Sometimes there are requests that aren't selfish and thus we cannot discern whether they are appropriate or not. Nevertheless God might not grant it because God thinks you deserve better.

That's true. Sometimes God do not answer our requests the way we perceive them to be. When we get the answer, we may not like it as it is, but would afterward know why it was so . Only then will we know that it is for the better.

I find it comforting to know that God will always want what is the very best for us so when He refuses one thing He has opened the possibility for something better.

I think one of the hardest things for me was to say "Thy will be done' especially when I really really really wanted a certain outcome.

Yes, it's really hard to say that, but it's what it should be.

I think that if one has an inappropriate request, and can't even see that it is inappropriate, then he or she has no right to ask it in prayers. I guess he or she should ask understanding first so it could be distinguised if it is inappropriate or not. Only then can the prospects of prayers being answered can be entertained. I think.

That's true. We must pray for discernment whenever we have to make a request. That way, we are guided whether our request is appropriate or not. That way, we shall not be having a false hope when we pray.

Yeah, we do. I guess that's because if we worship and know God's heart even more we know what he wants and we cant help but pray for the once he wants us to pray because we begin to love what he loves and no longer our own. That's why God says that if we pray, the Spirit helps us pray because we dont know what to pray for.

Correct! The spirit helps us in discerning things if they are good or not for us. Then, we will slowly be lead into how God wants us to be.

Yes, we should never asks for selfish requests. Furthermore, we should request for specific things that we know will be a benefit not only for ourselves but for many and that it is a good thing. However, there is no assurance that all our good requests will be granted because only God knows what's best for us. :)
