Last March 2011 i lost my passport in HongKong. It fell off inside the taxi and I cannot anymore locate the taxi. Anyways, I had some help from some Filipino working there and ask how to go to the Philippine Consulate. Well its quite easy getting a travel doc after completing the requirements. I submitted it in the morning and got it that afternoon. I was able still to enjoy my Ocean Park tour. c",)

It must have been very scary when you found you had left your passport in a taxi. I haven't ever lost my passport I am happy to say. When I was in Canada last year I got out of a taxi and left my travel guide book in it. Luckily I was able to buy a replacement for it very easily. When I was in Tunisia I got my coat stolen and my airline ticket had been inside the pocket. I was still able to fly home without too much bother.

Philippe75, I lost mine when I was in India, a victim of pickpocketing. After failing to recover it, I made a police report and called the embassy in Delhi. After verifying my entry details, I was given a copy of the police lost report for my embassy to provide me with a letter of identification to facilitate my rest of the stay and departure from India. Upon returning home, I had my new passport processed and secured within 4 working days. As the saying goes - all's well at the end of the day. In conclusion, don't panic. If you are lost, check with your hotel reception or check into a cyber cafe to seek out needed information like nearest embassy address and contact number. Better still, email a close family member or friend to help you out like calling the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Identification Department to assist you further.

if your a frequent traveller going out of the country, always have a photocopy of your passport else it is stored in your email account and can be access anywhere next is know your country's consulate or embassy address in such particular country else if you have a friend on that country ask for help for info on how to get the address of the consulate/embassy anyways always secure your passport and carry it always with you anywhere if your outside the country

It's too bad that you found yourself in this situation. It's definitely not the situation you want to find yourself in, at any point. I've never found myself in this sort of situation. I'm glad that I haven't lost my passport yet. I hope I never do, but you never know when it can happen to you.

Actually I did. In Italy. But only for a few minutes. I was in the lobby. I don't remember why I needed it, but I started looking for my passport and it wasn't in my pocketbook. I sat down and looked through everything in my bag. The situation was made worse by the fact that I did not speak Italian. Although I tried to appear calm, my panic was evident to the hotel personnel. A young bellhop walked up to me quietly, and returned it to me. Of course, I had to give him a big tip. I don't know where he found it. But, I suspect he stole it from me so he could get the reward money.
