Is it Strange or Normal?

Well, I'm not exactly old or anything, but there are parts of me that feel old-fashioned. That's why when I think of "online dating," I kinda cringe and want no parts of it.
Recently I've been developing a website. I told myself I'd never do it. I'd rather work writing content for other people. There's far less stress involved in it. But I broke down and did it anyway.
Since I'm a total noob when it comes to image editing, html, and the like, I had to hire out. I found a great Turkish girl to help me, and we quickly became friends, constantly chatting via video, phone, and on IM.
Is it strange that I like her? Is it strange that she likes me?
Yeah, I'm single, she's single - let's rock! Right?
Not so fast! It still feels a little creepy. It's all a little strange.
How about you guys and girls? Do you believe you can really meet someone like this and have a relationship?
The strangeness comes from not being able to really see her or touch her to speak to her. But I'm drawn to her for some reason.
This wasn't a dating site hook-up, although I am well aware of just how many people do use dating sites and how many are actually finding love.
In fact, it's sorta ironic. I write content for http://www.datingsites.org yet I've never really thought about using a dating site.
Ah, I guess I'm just curious to know how many people consider this type of thing to be normal these days. And what better place to ask than an online forum!?

Hi matersfish,
Uh, you've never met her even once? Maybe you can do some personal meet ups. I think you're just curious about her that's why you're kinda hooked up on her. You may like her but I suggest to know her more. That should not be a problem. In fact, you can be closer to her upon knowing her better. Good luck with that girl! :D

It's nothing new. People used to fall in love long ago by writing letters. They were called Penpals. Then when the telephone was invented people fell in love with each other when they dialed wrong numbers or took orders over the phone. Even a lot of telephone operators met their mates over the phone!
So online dating is just using another tool, the internet. If you like her, there's nothing wrong with that. I feel the same as you about online dating but you weren't looking for a date, you were looking for help with your site.
Enjoy her friendship, it may turn into the love of your life.
