Wow! This Kid Scares Me!

Yeah, the Pint-Sized Preacher. Ain't he a hoot? Little Kanon Tipton, a four-year-old literal bible-thumper, YouTube phenom, and the creepiest kid since Damien from The Omen. Know who I'm talking about? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2026791/Pint-sized-preacher-The-toddling-pastor-wowing-churchgoers-Mississippi.html?ito=feeds-newsxml I watched a news story about this kid and all I could think was that I'd end up having bad dreams about ankle-biters dancing around on my end table, shouting out "JESUS! JESUS!" (in that already-creepy Pentecostal moan) and trying to douse me with holy water from a sippy cup. Another thing that creeps me out about the situation is the mini love affair I witnessed on Fox News and elsewhere when they aired the video of this kid bathed in the baby food and giving a legitimate sermon. Some people in the audience even caught the holy ghost. Just my opinion, obviously, but "cute" isn't the word I'd choose for this kid. It's seriously disturbing. I watched the Muslim version of this (kinda) on HBO, Koran by Heart, where kids learn to recite the entire Koran. Some of the ones who couldn't do it broke down. But all devoted their childhood to the task. I get that it's a parent's prerogative in terms of teaching religion to their kids, but wow. For the kid's sake, I just hope they're pounding him heavy with the "good" version of religion and not a jihad against gays and sinners and the like. He's just made the Phelps' recruiting list.

I've seen some of those videos before. It is kind of scary, but mostly it's hilarious. The kid doesn't really understand what he's doing, and even his parents know he's mimicking.

Kids in general never really understand... until they understand. I have a feeling that the vast majority of men and women who sit in churches today sat there with their parents who sat there with theirs. And that's all good and well. To each their own. But there's something about this that creeps me out. It's like those little 3-year-old, makeup-covered mini queens who might seem to enjoy what they're doing but we all know it's about the parents. I don't believe his parents are as hands-off with it as they claim to be. Thanks for the response!

A child that young doesn't understand what he is doing, he is just like a tape recorder repeating what he's been told. I think it is an awful thing to do to a child, not because of the religion but because he is being robbed of his childhood. He's going to be a very disturbed adult.

Agreed. I'm also creeped out by those little beauty queen kids and baby actors whose parents all seem to push them into it while claiming it's the child's dreams. Thanks for the response!
