Something you're saving up for

Hmm. Since, I am still a student I still do not have any income besides my allowance (ha ha) But, you see I have so many things I want to have(purchase). And I know my parents can't give it all to me and I understand them. So, I daydream and say to myself someday I'll be able to have a stable job and reward myself. But, also I do some savings little by little through my allowance and maybe buy one from my long list of dream purchases. Maybe a kindle...? ;) So, how about you guys? :D student or not.

Good for you that you already at a student's age is aware of trying to save. But I do suggest that you try to save not to buy the things you want first or not to spend the money you save for luxury only. Try to save for your financial freedom as early as now. You can do this by starting early to save and learning on how to invest. This way, you can easily buy up the things you want in the future once your investments bear fruit. Just my two cents.

You have a point, sir. :D But, I just really want to buy myself something big. Just once. :P It'll also be an achievement. Then, I'll do the investment. :D

Sorry if I sound very frugal about that. Well, you can always try to pamper yourself with the money you are saving. I just want to emphasize financial management but in my opinion, you can save, invest and pamper yourself all at the same time. Well, what is money for anyway if you don't spend it for yourself?

Learning to save at a young age is very good. Keep it up. I also saved a lot when I was still studying. I don't save for a particular thing but actually keep it for future use. When I have a project or something I need to buy for school, I get it from my allowance to lessen the burden of my parents. Even if my dad had a stable job, I still learned to save wanting to reward him and give importance for all his handwork.

I will. :) I also do that now. Because I really don't want to further burden them with school fees. So, if the fee could make up to my allowance I just get it from there. :D

My husband and I are trying to save as best as we can. It's not easy, as my husband has been able to get more full-time work, since he graduated from university in 2010, despite all of his efforts to get work. As I am pregnant, it is more difficult for me to get more work, other than working online. But we are trying. Anything that we get we try to put something towards our savings. We have several things that we would like to do, such as trips, and such. And that's what we're trying to save for. Even if we don't use it for that, at least we have it there in case we need it for whatever reason.

I am saving for the rainy days. I don't work outside so I don't have employee's provident fund. Now am working online I used to saved RM100 but sometimes when my father don't pay me everyday RM15 I would use that RM100. But now I promised myself I will save even 1 cent.

i always save even when i was yet a student. right now that i am working, i am still having the habit of saving. sometimes when i go to the mall or the store, i get very tempted with the beautiful things out there and so my savings will be gone. that is the reason why i dont go to the malls most of the time.

Oh. ha ha I also get tempted from buying what I see in the malls. Oh well, sometimes you have to treat yourself a little something. :D

hi:) as for me I save money because I want to buy my mom a gift for her birthday, it's her birthday next month and I'm thinking of getting her the earings that I saw on mall last week. I like to give her something that comes from my earnings here on mylot.then after that perhaps I'll save so I could buy myself some stuff that I need.

I got a Kindle for my birthday and I am really enjoying it. Certainly it will be excellent on my travels. I have spent lots on my garden lately like getting a shed, paint to make it look like a summer house, getting a thatched bird table and getting an arbor. I am now saving up to get some double glazing for my bungalow. I will be doing one window at a time. Good luck with your saving.

I am a student at the moment, too, and I am thinking about what my life is going to be like when I graduate next summer. Because of that, I am saving money so that I get a good deal of interest on my savings so that I have the chance to sort myself out a little bit when I graduate. This means that I probably won't have to take jobs just for the sake of things to tie things over, and I will be able to support myself straight away from the beginning of next September. I'm going to have a bright future hopefully!

Yes! Positive thinking! Oh it's like, not going for jobs first so that you'll have a little rest within the transition of student life to a professional life. :P

I'm on the same boat. I'm a senior in college and money is pretty tight. I did a couple of jobs before but all of my money from there was spent on worthless things. I'm not really good with money. I tend to buy things that I don't even want or like. I guess I just like to shop? If I will get a stable job after college, the first things that I will save for will be for a car then for a European vacation.

I feel you. I can't resist to buy something sometimes even if it's not really important. :P Have to change that. Woah. That would be big. Good luck on that. :)

right now I'm a student, I'm taking an online class to be a medical transcriptionist. I saved up a few thousand bucks from a job I took once I dropped out of college because I didn't like my major. I have probably about 6 thousand saved up right now, I'm not even sure how much at this point lol. I know how you feel, I used to want so much when I was younger and I wanted to work instead of being in school so I could make some money! don't worry, one day you'll be working and be able to treat yourself to a kindle. maybe ask for it for your birthday or christmas. right now I have my heart set on a vacation to Amsterdam next summer but airline tickets are so high right now, it would be about 6 thousand dollars total just to get there for me and my parents to go. so thats 6 thousand before we even spend thousands more for a place to stay and things we have to, and want to buy while were there.

;)Yes. I totally cannot wait for that time to come. When I can finally work and pamper myself, but also somehow treat my parents for all their hard work for me. ;) Aww. I'm sure that time will come for you too. We just need to focus and really work hard for everything.

For now, I have no job and that's not good. My parents give me allowance for a month. I somehow save money for future use or an emergency. I wanted to have a job but I ain't lucky enough. I just go saving and saving so that when I'm at the tip of trouble financially I have something to spend.

If you save a cent everyday one day you will have quite handful of money, but I don't think that will quench your thirst for buying what you want to buy.

to save is very nice but when you have this option. because as you want if you do not have a fixed income how to save. I also like you have no permanent means and look to have my husband take a while but it is very difficult. and the only solution to have a steady income is to begin work and to work. And it might save something. Good luck and nice day!
