Your idea that all religions need to change is rather sweeping and gets lost in generalities. I do agree that all religions need to be dynamic and bring their mythology into agreement with the current state of human knowledge but all religions are not based on a mythology of two thousand-year old science. Those that do need to reconcile their mythology with what we now know now about how the world works or risk becoming irrelevant.

I dont have any knowledge about religions except Islam. As a muslim I can proudly say there is no need to change holy Quran according the current life style. God is the one who knows the past, present and future. So God has revealed the holy Quran not for the era of prophet mohammed (Pbuh) but also for the age after him, till the end of our world. Holy Quran describes how to live in a society and code of conduct. If any one can find faults in holy Quran and I will accept their religion. If God can see the future then there is no need to alter.

I don't think its right to change the rules to fit your own situation. What good is having a belief if people can just change it when things aren't working out the way they want it. I am a Christian and Christianity goes back to the beginning of the world and the beliefs fit perfectly today just as they did many many many years ago. Thanks for the good topic!

While it is not right to chang the rules to fit our personal situation there is something to be said for updating our mythology to bring it in to line with the current state of our knowledge.

Religions have changed, slowly, but they do. Everything changes. Religion does, and will continue to, evolve. Just because things change does not mean that we are doing something wrong. It means that we are adapting to life. “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.”

I think that religion is not made to fit with our generation. We should be the one adopting to the religion and belief we follow. Change can put the sacredness of religion in a bad position of I think it will not be a good idea.

I think many make changes on their own. If there are portions in their religion they feel are outdated, they discard them. Religions like to control so I bet it will be hard to update them. I feel we can each examine our conscience and follow what we think is true and set aside what is outdated. I know that will not sit well with some, but if it's genuine I think God will be ok with it and ultimately that is all that matters.

This is actually the reason why I never believed in any religion. I believe that there is a God but since every religion says differently on how to worship that God and they also dictate how you live your life, I'd prefer that I worship God on my own.
