Does it really matter to you if you have the next upgrade of the ipod/itouch

I recently bought a 3rd generation ipod (for $50) because I lost my 5th generation one. Actually I bought two 3rd gen. I find that the only big diffrence is the look and 4th and 5th look pretty much alike. And they sold for much more money because they're the "newer" models. The older they get the cheaper they are and we rush to buy the upgrade because of all the "new great stuff" that was added to it. Ipod 3g has games music and lets you watch videos, isn't that enough? They hold off on certian applications so they can upgrade it everywhere. At some point ipod will allow you to text (I think Itouch actuaolly does) and I couldn't imagine any one wanting an ipad. It's got no support (unless you buy that little plastic thing, and even then it's not that great) I don't like touch screens they are far too sensative so you may accidently do something you didn't mean to do like opien or close some things (well you sorta get that with non touch screen computers too)and get all smudgy really quickly. I like the idea of the qwerty keyboard and the screen "standing" on top of it. It's much easier to do stuff and you don't need to type by opening up the keyboard and touching it. Did I mention I also hate that it's flat? I like my laptop and honestly feel no reason to upgrade my nano. Plus, have you seen the sixth generation? It sucks! It's this little square oversensative touchscreen that only has for options. The only thing it has going for its self is the fact that it's a touch screen. I don't think they'll be repeating that I think next year) when the inano 7g comes out.

It doesn't matter to me. I bought my ipod touch last year (4th generation) as a b'day gift for myself. Then I realised that I bought it just one or two weeks b4 the launch of the latest ipod. And guess what? I hardly use it even though it can be used to surf the net. It was a purchase that was made on impulse and now I kind of regret spending such a huge sum of money.:(

I think for some people, they are just so interested in new technologies and whatnot that they are always purchasing with the new upgrades! Apple does come out with a lot of new products, but I believe that it is a necessity. Most people get bored of seeing the same thing over and over again, especially if there aren't any visible differences. Apple does do hardware improvements sometimes, but most people don't research it and see that they upgraded various things.
For me, especially with technology, which is quite expensive, I only "upgrade" when my current item is starting to break, or I'm in need of a new one. I currently have an ipod touch 2g, and I enjoy it very much.
Technology just keeps improving nowadays, and people are expecting more from these big name companies. I think that's why they keep coming out with these constant new products and updates, just months after the latest craze.
