Often people don't get desired success only because they doesn't look good. A good dress sense and a charming personality enhances one's appearance. Some people say that you have to dress for success. People think if somebody looks good then he is good. The opposite is also true.Dress and grooming are two essential components of your appearance that speak volumes about you before you ever utter a word. Managing your impression to others is a key step to achieving goals in your life.

Some companies would say that appearance does not matter, it's your skills. Well, somehow it is not true. Actually they are looking for both. An applicant should appear presentable and formal especially during interview to get a Job and be successful.

yes. That is true but if they can't find an applicant with both the qualities, they will choose the one who has better appearance.

yes a company is for their own benefit not for the benefit of the candidate. So company will test whether he/she has the ability to present him/herself,make clear what he wants to say.of course the technical or non technical knowledge required but this communication skill, freshness in look and presentable nature matters a lot.

yes. presentable nature is very important. most of the times a worker has to deal with clients of other organisation. In that case you are representing your own company. So if you have a good personality and a great appearance, it certainly gives the person a edge.

Believe it or not, changing your appearance can change everything about your life. I have lost a lot of weight recently, over four stones since the beginning of this year, and people are treating me a lot differently than they might have done in the past. I am noticing that I have a lot more friends than I did before, as more people stop and speak to me in the street or in shops. It might be because I am more confident than I was in the past as well, though, as losing weight can have a lot of effect on your entire personality.

yes, one's confidence is always reflected in his appearance, conversational skill. that's what the people, company looks for. I know a friend of mine who had a problem of tongue, could not speak some words clearly, but he made an operation..now he can speak clearly, and i am really happy to see that the boy who could not even talk looking at the eyes of the listener is sometimes surpassing me in smartness and confidence. :)

Not always but this is a good tool for us to read our personality.. ANd this is only a tool for success if ever and for the better future. Being nice and good looking is one of our asset to find a job and for confident purposes. This will make us feel good and better...

Well, i guess it's true. If you hold a position similar to your co-workers, it is an edge if you are always dressed properly, but is at par with them when it comes to skills and attitude. When promotion comes, it is likely that from amongst your co-workers you will be chosen. It pays to power dress, somehow.

Michael Nutter, the mayor of Philadelphia, recently directed some very harsh words to black people applying for jobs. "You walk in with your jeans hanging down,...your hair spiked,...and tatoos up and down your arms, and you expect somebody to hire you? You look like you're crazy!" Finally, somebody said what we are all thinking. Personally, I think it depends on the job you want. While you should look neat and clean, I don't think it is necessary to wear a suit and tie for a maintenance job.

I'm a firm believer of the phrase: "Dress for success." Enough said. :)

I went to secretarial school when I was close to my mid twenties. And it took me 3 years for a 2 year program all because of 1 work study related course. But then I was not able to gain employment. I was shy and wished I'd had the confidence to go into another type of field back then. I think part of it was what you are speaking about. I have a friend who has been going to school for years. He's very heavy and I tell him he will probably need to lose weight in order to get a job but he disagrees. I agree with you I think it's of utmost importance. I never had enough money to make myself look good and I never knew how to fix my own hair or to dress good.

Well, I think it depends on what you want to do, and what field you want to be in. I mean, if you want to be a model or an actress, you have to look good, there is no way around that, but if you want to be a scientist or something, there are plenty of examples of unattractive scientists, I think. So it depends very much on what it is you wish to achieve. I do agree that it helps in most cases though, but it is not a must for everything in life.

yes the dress and your communication skill always matters because you have deal with various kinds of people in you professional life. so a candidate of very irritating behavior and unpresentable nature.you must look fresh so that the worker you are directing to your job gets inspired from you.

It seems that it's true. I just don't understand why people generally areso superficial. Why do people tend to judge a book by its cover? Does having a good dress sense mean that a person has the ability to perform well at work? Of course not! Sigh...
