I want to try odesk but I don't have much skills. I have basic knowledge in web developement like html, php. I also have knowledge in oracle but I don't have real work experience on this fields and I am not an expert. But somehow I want to try those jobs at odesk. Should try or not. Have you done those IT job? Do you really need to have a wide knowledge on that job to join or even a beginner in programming like me can do that kind of job?

I joined the site but the only problem is that their are so many bidders on the site. Second too much competition many people that are really good in doing projects, they don't mind if they only receive a small amount of payments. If you try to get a job be sure you're good at a certain job.

Oh yes. I am so doubtful about that site. When I wrote on one of the forums of Odesk.com complaining that I could not get a job because I didn't have experience and I didn't have skills nor I am not an expert, and I told them that I would like to delete an account because I'm so frustrated -- they respond to my discussion that I should not give up because a freelancer with experience and no experience are welcomed and can still work on Odesk.com. I'm so doubtful of what they had told me that even a new freelancer with no experience can work on Odesk.com because if that was true, I would have already got my first job on that site, but this September, I am going to go back on that site and try again. I am glad that I still choose not to delete my account on Odesk.com.

I do not have much experience and I don't have much skills. I do know adobe photoshop, but it is just a basic. I do forum posting, but I don't know if that is a skill -- well -- based on my experience, I didn't get a job. I quit because I'm so frustrated, but every time I read and heard about a user in Odesk.com that earn more than $200.00 dollar a month, I got urge to go back and try again. This September, I'm going to go back on Odesk.com. I wish and pray that I would get my first job on that site... because I really need money!

Applying for a job at oDesk is similar to applying for a job offline. You need to prove that you're the best person for the job you're applying for. That being said, you need the right skills for the job you want to get paid for. Aside from bidding for the jobs, your potential employers will also do an interview via video conferencing.
