There was an earthquake today in the east coast, at around 1-2 p.m. I was sitting in front of my laptop at that time, playing some games. When I felt it, the ground was almost like, vibrating. I thought it was very cool, and even though the ground shook a bit more and I knew it was an earthquake, I didn't think much of it(too occupied with my games, :]). I live in New Jersey, and I just googled the earthquake a few minutes ago, and found out it was in Virginia.
Did anyone else feel the earthquake? Was the ground just moving around a bit, or completely shaking? What were your reactions?

You certainly are calm for a 5.9 quake. Have you experienced them before? I live in Cal and do not enjoy quakes at all. The worst are the after shocks...Glad you could stay so calm and enjoy the ride
LOL I started a post on this topic too..I guess several of us did..

Haha, I guess I am. I've never experiened them before, but I guess I was so calm because it was only a mild shaking, not really like, violent and stuff.
Oh yeah, CAlifornia and the earthquakes. I have a friend who's been in California for a few weeks, and she saws the earthquakes are crazy!
Thanks :) It was only for about a minute anyways, nothing too bad.
Oh yeah, I'll have to check those out.

ACtually, I wasn't completely sure. I wasn't totally keeping track of the time, and it didn't seem like too long anyways, so I just said, 'a minute'.
Thanks again :)

yes there was an earthquake but i did not feel it today, i felt is yesterday around 5 pm eastern time. My whole house was shaking and we were freaking out. I live in ny and i felt it. the magnitude was about 5.9 which is astounding to hear considering that stuff like this never happens in NY.

My sister said she was sitting at the computer and she felt it. I heard a lot of other people in the area say they felt it to. I was shopping and I did not notice it. I've never felt one so I think it would have been interesting but oh well its really not a big deal. I'm in Pennsylvania here. Were supposed to have a hurricane tomorrow I think it is.

Hi h3llothere,

Hi Judy890,
I get it. Earthquakes on the east coast are rare, and it's probably very scary if you've never experienced it before. This was the first time I felt an earthquake, but it wasn't too bad and only lasted for a bit, so I wasn't too scared.
Wow, it must've been crazy for you, with all those people outside. I bet it was a scary feeling, just to not be on stable ground. Thanks for sharing your experience with me, and hope you have better luck with earthquakes in the future!

. Problem is you don't know when it will stop or will it get bigger..
Glad you are ok and 'enjoyed' the experience.

That's understandable and sad. We are so close to the 10th anniversary I can see why many thought this way.
