Would the temptations be as successful as they are without David and Eddie?

Before David Ruffin came along the temptations weren't popular. Eddie and David sang most of the songs because they were extremely good (Ruffin especially) But Ruffin pretty much made them. He sang the best and I think was the best of all of them (my opinion)
