Ok, Warren Buffett (and others who claim to be willing to pay more taxes)...

Here's your chance! This link explains all the ways a person who claims to be willing to pay more taxes can go about doing it. Guess what, not only doesn't Warren Buffett pay more than he's legally required to, he makes sure his regular taxable income is offset completely, so he pays nothing on it. He does pay on capital gains and other income, but after reading his strategy, it's easy to see how he pays a lower rate than his secretary. So, armed with this information, how many of you who support Buffett are willing to put your money where your rhetoric is? OR are you just a big a liar as ol' Warren? http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/donate-money-uncle-sam-government-received-3-million-205307205.html

What Warren Buffet is saying is our tax system is inequitable because with loopholes and preferences it allows billionaires to pay lower tax rates than average working class people. That's a rational observation about the system. It's more consistent than many hypocrites who hold that expiration of the Bush temporary tax cuts is a tax increase but expiration of the temporary cut in the payroll tax rate is not. They also make the stupid argument it is bad economics to allow the top marginal rate go up 3.5% even if it increases our debt but the payroll tax rate should go up 2% to to return to 6.2% to reduce our debt.

So what's the problem, Warren? Send a check to the United States Treasury and it will be cashed immediately, no problem and no delay! They might audit you to find out why you have any extra money to donate but other than that you won't be breaking any laws. Do what you want and leave the rest of America alone! On the other hand, he does give to many charities besides the ones the Gates' support. You can find them here: http://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/183-warren-buffett As you can see, he's not a selfish person. I just wonder why he wants to tell everyone else how to spend their money!

I do not support Warren Buffet or anything he espouses or does. Buffet is just another of the outrageously wealthy "capitalists" who totally support Democrats and liberal "causes", and, who, according to the lore and lies fed even to school children, simply do not exist. According to the liberal lies we are spoonfed daily,"capitalism is a tool of Republicans". George Soros, Bill Gates, and many others are also testimony elsewise. While it is true that the most wealthy can afford to throw their moneys at both parties, liberal propaganda would have us believe only Repubs benefit. Bottom line - Neither party is worthy of our support and none can claim to be honorable. Buffet is just a prime example of the duplicity of liberals who trade in deceit, lies, and manipulation in order to fool and subjugate the fools among us. Thanks for taking the time to bring light and expose the lies.

He did not send money to the government, but he did give Bank of America another 5 billion dollars.

Maybe he was just trying to cut out the middleman.

It's not unusual to find people who believe in things "in principle but not practice". Buffet has been doing no good to the arguments about taxing and should just keep his mouth shut. It is entirely possible that Buffet is intentionally being hypocritical to drive support AWAY from taxes on the wealthy. He's not a stupid man and has to know intelligent people are going to have a reaction against his trumpeting. What better way to kill discussion than to destroy one side of the argument from within.

Warren Buffett is willing to pay what he owes and no more. He would like to see everyone else pay more taxes. If he really wanted to pay more in taxes he would not use all the deductions he can. He would also declare his income as regular income and not Capital Gains. To be a good liberal he is saying all the right things on taxes.

it is not a good idea to donate some money to a struggling government. the money may just be a drop in an ocean, but it is enough to bring patriotic sentiments back to the people. the government needs support from the people. the more people donate money, the more widespread is the support for the government. but the government needs to do more on its financial management. the spending and borrowing must stop.
