mommy why you don't understand me

August 25, 2011 8:24am CST
hi friends:) We go to fellowship last Sunday and the pastor said to the congregations “God wants us to be a tool.” then the kids sitting in front of me exploded in laughter. Her mom got angry with him and asking him to stop laughing, the mom was asking him why he is laughing, but I do understand why. "tool" slang words means genetalia. somehow I understand the mom, but I can relate to the kid too. Allow me to quote the great Inigo Montoya (“Princess Bride”). “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” What about you my friends? let me in on the verbal catastrophes you’ve experienced.

It's about how much the word f***k has gotten into our everyday conversation. (pls don't ban me admin..i haven't used the full word, nor in a bad sense!) I was chatting to a south african girl on net and i used "OFO" when i failed to explain to her about an Indian tradition. We Indians say OFO when we are tired of conveying something but in vain. And she thought i said " OH F**K OFF".. Gosh! We should be very careful while conversing with people from different cultures and countries!

hi:) yeah nowadays so many new words that have different meaning. I also don't know some until I heard it from my friends. oh that surely is offensive, now I learned another slang from you. yes "the princess bride", I never seen the movie but my mom always say that to us when were saying something that she think that could be mistaken for double meaning words. thank you for your comment friend:)

Well, maybe the pastor should get acquainted with common expressions so that he doesn't make such a mistake again but I bet those kids will remember something of his address much more than they would have if it was just the usual, boring stuff! I'm sorry that I can't call to mind any experiences I have had like this, though I know there have been some. I was generally the one laughing, I'm glad to say!

Mothers, always, tend to inculcate discipline in their children at all times. That is how children learn to behave. If we allow children to do what they want, they would not be respectful of the society we live in/ There is a time for every purpose under heaven, and certainly, when it is not time to laugh, one must keep quiet. That is self control. Just from a mother's point of view...

This must have been embarassing for the mother. We use to say the phrase nice shoes when I was in the military. Nice shoes refers to the persons butt. The first time I heard someone say that I thought what the heck does that mean. I think his shoes are ugly. Well, when I was filled in on the mean. I thought ah, he does have nice shoes. Best Wishes!
