The local News is so depressing lately....

I end the day with our local news and to be honest it is only to watch for the weather to see what to expect the next day.....but you have to wait for the weather report and the stories they come up with are just so depressing.
Is it like this where you are??
For example, tonight they mentioned that Detroit has 500 fires a month, a story about the Detroit Fire Department.... 500 fires a month is just horrible.... another story about something that is dangerous in your house when you cook, or more bad things that has happened in the area. I want to know what is happening but I wish they had more happy stories or focused more on the positive then to give the bad guys such headlines.
Do you watch your local news?? Are the stories depressing or more upbeat?

I do and it is upsetting that they can't come up with at least one really upbeat report...everyday! It's one thing after another.....bad bad...you know what I mean. They should be a bit more inventive and seek out something that will give everyone a smile.

I know, why do they have to depress us all the time. I havent watched much of the news lately...I give it about 5 minutes, watch the weather report and then change the channel.

I guess local news are like that.
It tackles the weather, the bad news and some entertainment. The bad news are i guess, to caution the people. We need to know about them, even if they are depressing. At least, we will know who are involved , for they could be our relatives from far. 
But we also have some upbeat news and that's usually at the end of the show. I guess, it's to lift the mood of the viewers after seeing those bad news.

I know, they are only reporting things that happen in the day around our area but seriously I wish they could find happier stories sometimes....after a full day with the house,the kids, running errands you just want to end the day on a good note and then they come up with all this bad stuff that happened.
