Having pets at home can relieve stress

Okay, I just wondered if anyone of you here is a long-time pet lover. I can say that I am a pet lover. When I was still small, I used to collect gold fish, fighting fish, redtail fish, and other fishes. I also have rabbits, white mouse with red eyes, cats, and spiders. I also breed fish at that time. I just put them in a container full of water and there, they will lay their eggs. For me, having pets can really relieve stress, especially if your are very tired from school, work, etc. This is very effective as far as my experience is concerned. My favorite pet before is the rabbit and the cat. They are just too cute and can make you laugh at any moment. How about you, are you a pet lover? Do you agree that pets can really relieve stress, helps you relax and feel comfortable?

lol ..I don't think a snake would relieve my stress...it would give me stress. I guess if you like snakes it could be a comfort to you, but I am afraid of them.

Actually there are a lot of reptiles out there, I am not sure what kind of reptile does redik11 want to feed. Hi stary, likewise I am also afraid of snakes, but perhaps it would be better if the snake was housed in a glass terrarium, that would be cool.

Lol! It seems any kind of pet can relieve some stress. The good thing about pets is that they're not people who can further place stress on you. They don't talk back and they're always there by your side. It doesn't matter what pet, any pet will do depending on what you like. I wouldn't mind reptiles. =)

Hi braveheart! I agree. Pets can relieve stress. We usually have a dog as pet. Right now we have a dog and a rabbit. Someone stole our turtle. Our dog is named Max and our rabbit is named Sam. Whenever I arrive home, Max would come running to me excited for me to feed him. Sam is in a cage. He can't be let out because he goes anywhere but he doesn't know how to come back. But he is really cute especially when he eats. He's so adorable. Max is kinda annoying sometimes because he always follows me around and if I make him stay outside the house, he would bang the door until he opens it. But he is funny, too. He sleeps on the floor in a very funny position. And when you start to pat his head, he would immediately lie down and wait for you to stroke his stomach! It's really good to have pets around. They can relieve your stress and bad mood. I am actually planning to adopt one dog as an addition to the family. ^^

Of all domesticated animals, I love dogs most as a pet.Yes, as you have said pets helps us to relive stress aside from the enjoyment for having one.Dogs I guess is the most faithful of all pets. You feed them or not (I mean forgotten to feed them)they are still wagging their tails every time he sees you.

I have never tried petting a dog, mainly because my mother does not want it. She is just too scared of it since her father was bitten by it. But I am still hopeful to have a dog some time in the future. Yes, it is true that dogs are really faithful, that is why they are once called man's best friend.

I've had a lot of different animals growing up from rabbits to pigs to snakes and dogs, cats and fish. I am still an animal lover and know how they can help with stress. I like to watch my fish swim in my new pond and all the tadpoles going crazy. I do agility with my dog and that helps with stress and exercise. Also brushing him and just companionship from someone who is always by my side is nice.

I love my little dog dearly. He was a wedding present from my husband. But I have to keep him brushed cuz he's a miniature eskimo dog. And he's extremely fluffy. But it is relaxing to lay back in a recliner and brush him. He really is my best friend.

I think that it depends on what pet you choose. I love animals but for example, having a dog causes stress for me instead, because you have to clean up after them too much, they break stuff, and eat a lot. but on smaller more peaceful pets like cats and some others like a guinea pig, then yes, they can help you feel relaxed, pets are just great companions that never leave you and always love you.

You're right. I have read some other comments that it really depends on what pet you are comfortable with.

Fish are relaxing. Dogs like mine just add to the stress level. The three am choice of let the dog out or clean pee later doesn't help me relax at all.

well for me a dog is enough a pet to breed for me, something that is useful in sense, surely having pets is nice along as you spent half of your time with it then its good, so far am a busy person so the time i spent with pets is less, i am a pet lover but duty calls, at times when in stress or other tension you can just forget those while enjoying your time with pets with you.

Studies have shown that living with pets can keep you healthy. Petting a cat or dog for example is a stress releiver and can help lower your blood pressure. I think the unconditional love we can receive from a dog is like no other in that a dog is always happy to see you and asks for little in return.

Very true! I think the happiness and love that we get from petting a cat or dog is that main reason why it can relieve stress and also lower the blood pressure. When we get happy, our blood pressure lowers down, plus we tend to forget some of the problems we have temporarily.

Me and my husband are also pet lovers. I have had fish, guinea pig and a dog. he have had chicken, parrot and dogs. When we got married, we have dogs and they are increasing in number since we did our first breeding. I think that they really relieve stress. My husband is working all day and he still have time to play with them and it is making him really happy. It is not easy caring for pets, but the joy of having them around to play with and love is a nice feeling.

Im from a pet lovin family. Ive always had pets. Presently i have 3 tailless cats. Manx. Miss Kitty Kat (mama), Miss Sissy Kat (daughter), Bubba Kat (son). I call them the 3 stooges sometimes. They certianly keep me amuzed. They each have their own personality. When people say cats dont show affection and Kitty wraps her arms arond my neck i know they dont know what they are talking about.

That is really true. My previous work is so stressful and my dogs help me a lot to remove my stress. Every time I will go to work, I feel so stressed already. But when I'm on my way home, I'm so happy because I will be with my dogs already.
