Hello Mylotters! We have a long weekend due to various holidays in a row from August 25 to August 30. Isn't it a great opportunity to travel and spend some time some where? Unfortunately it has been raining these days. We couldn't go to the nice beach we plan to stay to for the holidays. I'm afraid we'll be stranded since it rains heavily any time of the day due to typhoons and tropical depression coming in and out of the Philippines. And so, we ended up staying at home. However, I got a precious idea of renting some movies at the movie store. Today, I am planning to make a delicious dessert that we will be eating this afternoon while watching the movies that I have rented. We may not beable to go somewhere but we will be able to have a good time together at home! How about you? What do you and your family usually do when you have long weekend? Where do you usually go? Feel free to share!

It is such a shame the long weekend where you are is very rainy indeed. Going to a beach would be so lovely if only it was sunny. Renting movies was a very good idea indeed. In my home country there is a Bank Holiday Monday tomorrow. I believe the roads will be very busy with lots of traffic jams. I usually stay at home for the August Bank Holiday. Five years ago I went on a camping trip to the Channel Islands around the Bank Holiday in August. I took my dog called Secret with me. It is his birthday this week and he will became 7 years old.

Hello Maxi! So today's holiday in your country too? It's great to hear that. I wish you and your dog, Secret will have a good time on his Birthday.

I know the feeling. . .Hurricane Irene ruined our trip to Massachusetts--and lots of vacations for those of us living on the East Coast of the U.S. But, my family was lucky--very little loss of power and no flooding into our house--just the surrounding roads. So we are spending our vacation at home, watching movies and playing games and doing laundry. Could be a lot worse, but could have been better, too!

You are right. . .although we are soon going to hit the point of "too much togetherness" in too little a space!

Hi Suzie! That's what I'm talking here. We may not be able to have the enjoyment we imagine for the holidays but we must not have these days come to waste. Thanks for sharing!

Alot of people are worried the weather will ruin their vacation plans which yea sucks and is a bummer, but at the time I think of the people whose homes and jobs are being affected as well. I have friends in the outer banks where Hurricane Irene hit and havent heard them. When I have a long weekend I rent movies or play games with my boyfriend. sometimes we go out and do things, but if we cant we sometimes go see friends and spend time with them.

Hi Soulist! It's good to know you still find some alternatives to enjoy holiday amidst the bad weather. Have a nice day ahead!

It would be so nice to spend the long weekend on the beach, if the weather permits. But, any way, relaxing and watching movies, or listening to favorite music CDs, at home is an excellent option too. I like driving out to the mountains over the weekends, again of course if the weather permits. If not, just get a pack of popcorn and watch TV.

Plans are really ruined after that typhoon struck our country. I plan to go to my hometown this long vacation, but then, I can't because of the damage it made to our place. My relatives even advised me not to pursue the plan of going home. My groupmates and I (in Thesis Writing) also plans to conduct our reliability test in another school which is quite far from our school. Now, I'm not sure if we will continue the plan. If only this rain and wind will stop (even for a day).

Hi mabel! It's good that you took you relatives' advice. It's too dangerous to travel during bad weather. Especially that the weather condition may seem to be so unpredictable. Always keep precautions.

Yeah. Up to this moment, our weather hasn't improved yet. There is still a strong rain accompanied by a strong wind. I can barely go out of the house to buy some snacks or some stuffs in stores or in malls. Plus, there is this fog that just won't disappear.
