hi friends.way back in 2008,a great cricketer signed off in Bradman's style against the aussies.
by the way BCCI was looking to throw this guy out from the team, one must have imagined that they have a good replacement for the great man.
almost 3 years, yet sadly the number 6 spot continue to be useless.
the first guy who jumped right in to fill that spot was Yuvraj singh.
he has a fine average of 41 since ganguly retired but no century in 3 years?
his highest score being 85 that too against the english at chennai when master scored his hundred.
the other guy who believed to fill that spot better than Yuvraj was suresh raina.
he may have started his career with a ton like ganguly but after his series against sri lanka,he scored only one fifty excluding his exploits against the might windies a couple months back.
the only guy who looked somewhat solid was Pujara.
juts played 5 innings but he looked better playing against steyn and morkel, compared to yuvraj and raina against anderson and broad.
so bottomline.a key position like number 6 is still not occupied well enough.
how long its gonna take to fill that spot?

I think Suresh Raina is a decent replacement for Ganguly. The only problem for him is the rising ball which ironically was the weak point of Ganguly as well. I think if Raina brings in a bit more application and curbs his stroke play a bit he could become the perfect replacement for Ganguly in the number 6 slot.
Cheers!

I do not think any player is irreplacable. We won the T20 World Cup and 50-50 world cup without Dada. Ironically Suresh Raina was present in both these teams. In fact, he played important roles in both these world cups. So I would not make such hard statements in sports.
Cheers!
Ram
