how do you keep a baby from being overfed?

My baby drinks a lot of milk and I mean a lot! But there are times that he would puke (although very rare) due to being overfed. How do we know if he reached his limit already? What can we do to prevent this if he gets hungry a lot?

How old is your baby? I would give him more frequent, smaller meals so he's not eating a whole lot at one time, he can space it out throughout the day. Hope that helps! :)

he is actually 2 months old only. All bottle milk fed. it's really tough to stop him from taking in the milk.

Small frequent meals will minimize overfeeding. Maybe have him checked by a pediatrician. Babies who have the tendency to overeat have a problem in their blood glucose level. One way of avoiding overfeeding is to measure the amount of milk given to him. But the most safest is to go to a pediatrician.

Hello sinaw. May I suggest that you check to see if the holes in the nipple of your bottles are too big so he doesn't have work hared and so drinks too much. if that is not a problem when he finishes half a bottle then try giving him a pacifier and see if that will slow him down. When my babies were a month old we started giving them rice cereal but I know Dr.s don't do that any more because they found it gave some babies intestinal problems when they were older. I would check with you DR.

I'm not a mother so I really don't have a first hand knowledge on this but as far as I know from observing my aunts and cousins, they would just let the baby drink the milk until he or she lost interest. They don't feed their baby like every hour though.
