Lappy or Ipad?

Hey guys! My girlfriend and I are planning to buy a new gadget, probably this Christmas. But, I want laptop and she likes Ipad. And it would be costly and unnecessary to buy both since we live in the same house and we're always together. Any ideas which is much better? In regards to which is more convenient and which one would serve better? I could really use some help here.

It depends on how or what are you going to use your gadget for. If you're going to use it for work or other high-productivity requirements, then I say go for the laptop. But if you're going to use it for ebook or rss reading, email, internet browsing, then just go for the iPad, and I'd say go for the iPad 2. I'd say, the iPad is more of a complementary device for a laptop (or a desktop). I currently own both a laptop and a tablet, but I still prefer to use the laptop. I mainly use the tablet for reading my RSS feeds and some ebooks, occasional internet browsing, and since it is 3G-enabled, I use it as a smartphone.

Thank you for the response. About that, I've been thinking a lot and I think I'm gonna go for the laptop. Ipad's cool too, but I like something wherein I could store lots of stuff.

Go for a ipad 2 as it is a lot more fun and its even a smart device.
But if you wanna u could buy a laptop too but its no fun but has a lot more features than the ipad

thank you for making this discussion mar! i am also thinking of buying a new computer and i am pretty much tempted to buy an ipad 2 because of its being new and being handy. with this discussion i have learned much of the ipad and now i really prefer it than a laptop

I don't know much, but I think The Ipad would suit me. It's handy, lighter than the laptop and it's more friendly for girls. :)

hey see if you wanna use ur lappy for downloads and stuff then get one.... u jus wanna browse and stuff then get an ipad... but i feel it'll be better if you get ur self a laptop.... way more aplications and uses for it in comparison to an ipad... tc

ipad is good,coz its light and handy..but if you preferred a multifunctional gadget , i go for the laptop.

Ipad is much more convenient since it is small. But it is better to use it for reading or playing the games. If both of you want to do something a little professional, I will suggest you buy a laptop. Sometimes the iPad is like a high class toy in my opinion:)

It all depends on how you plan to use such things. If you intend to you it merely for browsing the net, reading ebooks, playing games or perhaps messaging, then an Ipad would be idea being handy and light. But if you have other things in mind like believe me, a laptop is definitely better. You can certainly do more things with an Ipad. Just imaging yourself making a word document and typing words on a flat screen without a keypad, that alone is a strain. Certainly an ipad is good, but there are a lot of limitations to its use.
