Yesterday, i went to the market with my daughter and we bought crabs. It is one among her favorites. We also had our breakfast there and she ordered a serving of crispy pata. Upon arriving home i prepared to cook the crabs but they were big crabs so i only cook the dead one but it was still fresh. The other one was still alive so i decided to reserve it for the following day. While cooking we were discussing about the foods that are healthy and not healthy and i said something like, "that is why God forbids men to eat seafoods because it is found to be high in cholesterol and He does not want us to get sick, he wanted us to have long life just like the people during his time." My daughter immediately searched the internet and found that God forbids us eating animals living in the waters without scales and fins.He also forbids us eating pig because it is considered dirty but He allows us to eat animals with split hooves and eating cud. Knowing these, my daughter felt so guilty that she did not eat the left over crispy pata i reheated and she told me not to cook the other crab which is still alive until today. Few minutes ago i checked on the bible these verses and i found it in Leviticus, Chapter 11. For me with the illneses people have nowadays, i can say that they did not follow what God has taught us. God really wants us to be healthy and live longer that is why he forbids us eating those food. So from now on my daughter said that she will not eat the foods God forbids us to eat even though all of them are her favorites. What can you say my friends? Do you follow Gods teachings on foods to eat?

I think that ordered on the old testament about food must not be taken as absolute. Actually the Bible shouldn't be taken as a manual. King David ate sacred food because he and his soldiers were on starving. Our bodies need food to stay alive. It's wrong when we eat for gluttony. Sometimes it is good practice fasting and abstain from the pleasures of food.

For the Christian, there is no food that is to be considered "unclean". During the Mosiac law, the Israelites were forbidden to eat certain meats. But that restriction was changed after Christ. As we are no longer living under the Old Testament's laws, we can be assured that we may eat whatever we want, just not to excess. There are several scriptures which will bear this out. You may want to read I Timothy 4:1-5 and follow footnotes and references from there.

Thanks a lot yoyo, i will read the the verse you suggested and i will also let my daughter read it. This is a great relief to us. The forbidden foods mentioned in the Old Testament were all my daughter's favorite and she was kinda depressed knowing that she could not eat those anymore. Thank you.

The Holy Quran states that you can eat anything out of the sea. Many Muslims however dispute this, saying that Mohammad later revised this rule. I personally believe that God doesn't make mistakes, and that written in the Quran is correct!

Yes, i also believe that, and God has a purpose in telling us what to eat not what to eat. All we have to do is to obey so that we could live longer. Thanks a lot for your response petersum.

Please read Mark chapter 7. Jesus said that nothing that goes INTO a man can defile him, but what COMES OUT of him. But many will say, what about the OLD TESTAMENT LAW. I am not formally educated in the Bible, but as I understand it, this law was for the Israelites and I am a Gentile. See, for me, God doesn't care what you eat in this world, what He cares about is how you treat other people and how you have followed His commandments. Anyway, we wouldn't be eating in heaven since hunger is part of being a mortal. When we have become immortal, we will not feel hunger anymore. Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to religious festival, a New Moon celebration, or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Thanks a lot friend for this enlightenment, i am not well versed with the bible too but these verses have somehow told me that what we eat is not important to God but our faith. God Bless!
