Pink just looks nasty

Okay..I'm showing my age. I hate the way some of the most popular pop singers dress and act onstage. I feel they send the wrong message to our young people and could do better. Wearing what looks like lingerie and fondling their crotch with both hands is just nasty. I just kept flipping past that channel!

I agree but look around too you see more young men pulling up their pants because they won't wear the right size for their waist. I caught a few minutes of the Country Music Awards and if those are thousands of dollars outfits, I think they could find the same thing at Walmart or other regular stores. But when you see the way these people sing and what they wear, its not as we knew it of course. Personally I enjoy hearing and seeing Taylor Swift as a young country star, Julianne Houghe is another one. Never have seen either of these girls with a distasteful outfit or song. Of course Julianne has been polished at a young age as she danced throughout her whole life and she was one of the accomplished dancer on Dancing with the Stars.

Forgot to add, I notice when I watch Dancing with the Stars, they always put the marshmallow fluffy people in PINK! Fortunately Pink and Red are NOT in my wardrobe. Although I am not fluffy, seeing those colors on others has made me causious of using those two colors. but new born baby girls look darling in them!

You are right! And I love both of those girls! Taylor Swift is a talented song writer and talks about real life. I like her a lot. And being a huge fan of Dancing with the Stars, I love Julianne Hough also. Missed her and her brother Derek last season.

Hey, I am of the younger generation (albeit the older half) that is supposed to be all desensitized and into this kind of music and stage presence and not even know music beyond what has become the mainstream, but to many people's surprise, I am the total opposite. What is even more amazing is that when people hear I do not like listen to these mainstream pop singers, they assume I am not into music, as if music doesn't exist beyond what is currently popular! I didn't even like mainstream pop when I was a kid, before it got this bad. It just did not have the depth and the soul that other genres had. I grew up listening to country - those performers always seemed very humble and treated each other like one big family. When they were on stage, they never really had this thing going where they were trying to impress people. It was all about great music and the sharing thereof. I liked that feeling - it was a world in music that did not thrive on image. And I was only seven, eight... maybe nine years old. (Of course, now country has become a dumping ground for performers who couldn't quite pass as pop.) Ever since then I have remained the same - I like pretty much every genre you can (and can't!) name... except mainstream pop! It is only lacking soul more and more as the years go by. It's more about the image than it is about the music and the image is by no means a flattering one.

To each their taste, I guess, but I agree with you on sending the wrong message to the young generation. This kind of popularity starts the wrong fad and teens just love going with with what's in.
