We have a big flea markets in my area. I havent been there in a while because its opened only on weekends. I did go this past weekend and I was afraid to get lost in there. Its divided by streets but no real design to it. You cant start with Street 1 and go on in straight lines to the end. Some streets go in circle making it very easy to get lost. I was amazed by all the stuff sold there. New stuff and old too. I was looking for something in particular and didnt want to waste time looking around but I couldnt help myself . I kept stopping here and there and then I wouldnt remember where I was anymore and how to get out. Lucky for me, I could ask just about anyone working there to point me out to door 49 (where I came in) so I could leave. I never found what I was looking for but did buy a few things Do you have flea markets where you live? Do you find its a good place to shop? Did you find any good deals there?

Over the past few years, I've visited several flea markets...we just call them markets here now. It always seems to be the same old junk you can readily buy in the $2 stores or else it's hand made pottery or clothing that costs a small fortune. I once bought a small jar of relish and it cost me $7.60 (stupid me , in shock, paid without a word). I find better bargains going to store sales but I still like the atmosphere of the markets.

Yikes!! I sure hope that jar of relish was very good!! They still have great prices here at our markets....most of the time, better than in stores. BUT, nothing can beat the dollar store

Sadly, it was awful. It was a small jar of apple, date, pecan and there were big chunks of half cooked apple and roughly chopped dates and not much pecan. It would have been lovely if things had been chopped more finely. The sauce part was practically a solid rather than a liquid too...all in all very disappointing, especially considering the price. Our dollar stores became two dollar stores and now only about 10% of the stock would be $2 but the most of the prices are still lower than elsewhere.

@MsTicke: Im so sorry the jar of apple wasnt up to par. They sold it way too high then. Shame on them. Here too our one dollar store has turned to a two and more dollar store But they still have quite a lot at one dollar. @ Stowyk: I too will look for the clearance stuff in stores and find good deals. I refuse to pay a lot for clothes or anything else now for that matter. Nearly everything is made in China now and the quality is way down. Sounds like you did well when you were selling!!

I love flea markets!! You never know what you will find! Of course that can be a problem, because you will buy things you didnt intend to! There are some flea markets not far from me. I havent been to any in a long time because I rarely have time when they are open!! At some of the ones local to me, I love to go shopping for some of the food!! They have excellent prices. The food is REALLY fresh. And I love to support local businesses!! This makes me want to go to the flea market... I wonder if I can find time to go this weekend...

Unfortunately, I havent found the time. I am still working 24 hours each weekend. Thankfully, there are some stores around that only sell produce and a lot of it is local. So I go there as much as possible!

It is very enjoyable to go to the flee market once in a while. Yes, here too, it is open only over the weekends. So, nice way to spend the weekend shopping, strolling around over the big area, and relaxing while picking up favorite items. Some of the items are very cheap, really good bargains.

Gosh I have not been to a flea market around here in several years. I use to and never found what I was looking for, but was always lucky to find deals on things I had no intention of buying. This is one of the reasons I stopped going because I never found what I needed and over spent on things I did not need. lol

I know what you mean. I always leave with a list of what I need and I never let salesmen get me into buying stuff I dont need or want. If they try, I tell them I can only pay a certain price, usually never over $5 and they leave me alone
