Friends. New friends. Old friends. No longer friends. Friends wannabe. ...

.. wanted friends, desired friends, required friends and
PENDING FRIENDS. Plus INACTIVE FRIENDS.
I have experienced all situations and I am still confused of the 2 types bolded above.
Talking about the second one, I wonder for how long an inactive account is kept on sight ..
As for the pending friends, I just can not understand.
Mylot system is alerting users for 2 events, with a number between brackets on main menu: message and friend request.
So, when I request friendshp to another user, he will get friends(1) on his menu ... And that will be there until he/she goes and accept or deny.
I had request pending to be accepted/denied by others for up to 30 days, and they wouldn't care to give a chuck. So, I canceled the request.
But I wonder, what would be the polite amount of time to wait until get to cancel the friend request?

I have several requests pending for the simple reason that I watch their activity here. I will not ignore but keep them in the pending list. Even if I am upset with someone here I may not interact but I will not cancel those who are in my friends list.

In my response I have said that I will not ignore a friends' request but keep it pending and will not cancel an existing friend which many do.

i don't have inactive friends or i didn't notice it. in which part will i see those inactive friends? i do have 5 pending friend request, i hope they'll accept it soon. I think the most polite way to cancel a request is around 8 months-1 year!

personally, i act on a friend request immediately after i receive the notice.
i could accept or deny the request.
i check the profile first and when i think he is an active member, i accept it.
i deny the request if i found him not active for a definite time.
active members for me means, actively participating in the discussions.
you can see the activities of the said member.
inactive for me means no activity for over a month.
with already friends, i do not delete them from the list even when they are not active.
i delete them when i found out they are just spamming, or someone inform me that they are just trolls.

I think I send two or three friendship requests in all my activity here. And all of them were accepted right away. So I am not the one to tell you how many time it is polite to wait for the approval.
I wanted to tell you that I was a little confused by your new avatar.
"cand o zbura porcu'" was not the avatar of any of my friends. It took me a while to realize you changed your picture.
Why did you chose this picture to represent you?

hehe, there are 3 explanations.
First, for all non-romanians around: "cand o zbura porcu" mean "when the pigs will fly", the mocking way to say "will never be / will never happen".
One reason for I changed is that I am or I attempt to be despite ods are I can not be - that's talking about the fragile health I have, but which I refuse to let it turn me down without a fight back.
Another reason - secondary, but important - is my answer here
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2572063.aspx
Third reason is because I think that is quite a nice photoshoped pic and rarely used ...

no time.. if you don't want it, cancel it!
way wait an acceptable amount of time to do something inevitable anyway? .. don’t prolong the upset and pain haha. I’d rather someone just cancelled my friend requested, or denied my friend request, than had me looking at a pending friend request for ages. It would lead me to believe the way were watching a judging me and trying to decide if they wanted to be my friend or not.. which is actually rather insulting. Take me as I am, or watch me as I leave, that’s what I say haha!

I would say you are 100% right, yet just to cave "the face", I ws thinking is a nice gesture to allow a minimum polite time .. 1,2 or max 3 days ... just in case the one just didn't logged in in this time and had not the opportunity to accept or deny ...
But on the other hand, you are actually right. Is not my fault you were not online or you were blind or not decided if to accept or not ...

well a nice gesture yeah.. MAYBE, when you add the person as a friend, check and see if they have responded to any discussions, or started any discussions, over the 24 hour period in which you have friend requested them.. if they have been commenting and discussing and not accepted you, then CANCEL! lol!

I do have a lot of pending friend requests too. I really don't know if they just don't want to add me up as their friends or they just didn't noticed the notification that you are describing in here. Anyway, I haven't cancelled those requests yet in the hopes that they might notice my effort to add them up. But maybe if they still don't add me up for more than a month, I feel that I have to cancel the request. Just my thoughts.

Yes, I do have pending approval requests for about a month already. I am trying to decide whether I will delete my request on them or not. But I do find some users just approving my request in about a month's time too. Maybe I should extend a bit. Maybe until three and a half months. I will clear out such pending approvals at the payout date I guess.

8 to 12 months?
Oh, I get it, you are mocking me .. hehe, nice initiative, Clare
