Reacting to the criticism after the complete capitulation to Man U, Arsene Wenger has a list of signings up his sleeve. If reports are to be belived, Arsenal have already landed Andre Santos as a direct replacement for Clichy, they are also close to signing striker Chu Young Park. Also if reports are to believed then Arsene Wenger is chasing the signatures of Per Mertasacker, Alex and Malouda. As per reports Mertasacker is in London for the medicals.
So is this the correct reaction finally from Wenger?
Cheers!

Arsene Wenger is a clever man and he knows what he has in his players. He has plenty of good ones, but the game against Manchester showed that he needs to do some defensive improvements. Alex and Mertesacker would be good transfers, but I think Mertesacker has become a pretty slow player lately. He is tall and has great anticipation, but he moves a bit slow. I don't know Alex too much, but what I know is that he is strong as a bull and has a tremendous shot. Malouda is a great left winger, and he can add some impulse to the offensive play of Arsenal. I have never heard of Chu Young Park, so I cannot tell too much of him neither. Andre Santos was playing for Fenerbahce, the team which was involved in the match fixing scandal in Turkey and they weren't allowed to start in the CHL, so I think if he had the opportunity, he has token it. A great left back, from what I have seen in the game Germany-Brazil, and in some Copa America games.
And to answer your question, yes, I think he has chosen the solution if he decided to spend some money, like the fans asked him.

I think more than pace Mertesacker and Alex are for adding more height and meat in the box. The current crop of Arsenal defenders are easy pushovers for the physical type of strikers like Rooney and Drogba. I think that is the main concern for Wenger in going in for these two names.

Yes, both of these defenders are pretty tall, especially Mertesacker, and pretty strong, especially Alex. We will see if all the transfers will be done, especially that there is not so much time left till the transfer window closes.
