Supposedly to be present in an estrogen-like substance soy, so I wonder whether excessive consumption affects the hormonal balance and ultimately adversely affect my health? Does that then affect gender-specific characteristics and behavior?

I think that you would need an extremely high level consume of soy to something change on your hormone balance. I guess it would be a impossible amount to a men consume, so, I don't think you should worry about that.

according to wikipedia, a 2010 meta-analysis of 15 placebo controlled studies showed that neither soy foods nor isoflavone supplements alter measures of bioavailable testosterone or estrogen concentrations in men. it has also been found out that soy consumption have no effect on the levels and quality of sperm.
