I had to go to dad's last night and since he wasnt home, I called my sister wanting to know if she had any idea where dad was. She said I could reach him on his cellphone but I dont like calling him in case he's driving and decides to answer while driving. My sister was at Ikea shopping and she said she would stop by dad's also. Before we left for dad's my sister called asking me if Id like to eat Chinese food since she didnt have her dinner yet. Oh sure I say. I was hungry also and planning on picking up a hamburger on the way, but I love Chinese food so that was great. Dad hates Chinese food but he had already eaten. We tried to fight him off as he insisted on paying for us...we lost.....he paid I was famished and started eating but didnt really like the taste. It wasnt what Im used to. I dont know the difference but she bought Cantonese food. I didnt say anything and ate it anyways . Do you find that you're used to certain foods tasting a certain way and dont enjoy it that much if it doesnt taste like what you're used to?

I am ok with eating something that doesn't taste like what I am used to. But of course, I would probably avoid it the next time if I could.

I was very curious why you seemed to like Chinese food so much and so I checked out your profile a while ago.:P Are you a Canadian Chinese? I am a Chinese but I prefer Malay and Indian foods.:) Incidentally, I plan to move to Canada in about 5 yrs' time and so I am now learning French.

Haha, no Im not Chinese, my family from my fathers side is from Italy and from my mom's side from France. Quite a mix!! I like Chinese food sometimes but my heart goes to Italian food As for learning French, it depends where in Canada you're going. Only in Quebec will you need French, everywhere else in Canada, you need English only. Theres a large Chinese population in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Of course we have our Chinatown in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They speak only Chinese there. I went to see a doctor there for a rash and we managed to understand each other with our hands. He did cure my rash by the way

"There is no accounting for tastes."For same dish ,It suits some people taste, but isn't to other's taste.I think people's taste ,in which some like sweet, bland food ;others love salted and peppery one, etc.,is acquired, not innate.Habit is a second nature.Chinese food consists of varieties of dish system such as Cantonese food,Sichuan food and so on.I don't know if the Cantonese food you ordered was genuine one.

I wouldnt know if its genuine. I know that the restaurant owner is Cantonese himself, so I can only guess its the real thing. I dont think our Chinese food in restaurants outside Chinatown is the real thing!!!

Yes there are. I dont know if "Nguyen" is Chinese or from another origin but they say that in our Montreal phone book, "Nguyen" is the most listed. In Vancouver, B.C. there's a huge Chinese community.

Yeah there are certain foods that if not done the same way I do not enjoy it much. But as you I will eat it especially if someone else made it and or paid for it. But I will definitely want to say where we go to eat the next time. lol

It was delivery, we ate at dad's but next time, I'll order from another restaurant. There was a spice in the food that I didnt like very much, but I didnt say a thing, not wanting to hurt my sister's feelings. What is important is that we were all together .
