Facing bad things in life

Bad things happen. There’s no denying that. Sometimes just when we think nothing else can go wrong it suddenly does, proving us wrong. Some say that life is bad and we just have to deal. Others may say that you deserve it, that somehow you were cursed or that God is punishing you for something you’ve done wrong. Sufficient to say, none of us are exempt from having to deal with a bad situation. None of us are exempt from some kind of pain, whether it is physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual.
But to put the blame where it belongs instead of looking for excuses is something I’ve been looking into. If I suddenly drive my car and am accidentally hit by another car I’d ask the following questions. Who had the right of way? Were there any traffic lights or signs that I or the other driver had disobeyed? Were we paying attention?
Over the years I’ve been learning that not everything is as it seems. In school, we are taught that what you see is what’s there. But that’s not always the case. For example, we can look at a model and say her beauty must be natural. But the fact is, most models suffer from inferior complexes and their looks are done professionally by make-up artists. Have the right money and the time, and you could look like a model too. In college, you learn a little more about life than what was taught previously.
But is this where bad things come in? Perhaps, perhaps not. We look at bad things as something we don’t want to occur, something we’d rather not have to go through. So we rant about it, push it away, attempt to ignore it. And then something worse happens and we find ourselves unable to handle that one. It then becomes a major problem that pushes us beyond our limits and requires us to seek outside help.
Wishing that bad things didn’t happen seems moot at this point. Currently, I am attempting to look at such things as a direct reason. I may not like the reasons, and I would definitely attempt to dissuade a bad occurrence from happening if possible. For the ones I cannot, I can only face it head on and do my best to overcome it.
So here are my questions, fellow mylotters. How do you view bad things in your life? What promotes you to think that, and what do you think you can do to make it better for you? And why?

I just figure out that they are a part of life to say the very least. There are many things where nothing does seem to go right. However, the sooner I really deal about it, the better it is. I just really have to go through a lot of things in life, just move forward and deal with the situation. The sooner we deal with these things, the better of that they mean.
There are times where a situation can really escalate a lot of times, when we really just let a situation move on a lot of the time. We are going to have some good times in life, we are going to face some bad things at life. We just got to learn from the bad experiences, trying to figure out what mistakes that we make. There are going to be a lot of times where we want to know but we're almost afraid what we might find out.

Hi megamatt,
I can actually relate to your post because of my own past experiences these last couple of years. Five years ago, life was stressful, but not as stressful as before. Then a lot of things happened one after the other. And it seemed as one bad thing happened, something else came along that was just as worse as the first or even more worse.
I have often heard that we get snow so we'll appreciate the spring. I think that can referenced to bad things in life as well. Appreciate the good things because of the bad things.
Honestly though I could do without so much bad things as can anyone else.

I think life is very complex and we cannot say that it is bitter or sweet, good or bad. Some of the bad things that happen to us, teach us good things. It seems that they are meant to be so that we reach a higher stage. Who knows? While it is very difficult to accept, we must go on trying.

Hi marguicha,
You are right. We must keep trying no matter the circumstances. I've learned that many people have given up because they didn't think they could overcome their situations. Some have ended their lives tragically because of a problem they lacked hope above. Fight the good fight and keep on marching, right?

oh these problems do not end.
every day there are many new and different problems.
the only solution is to think positively in order to remove the accumulated strain.
because stress makes us more aggressive and explosive.
There are so many bad things in life which can not escape no how to stop them.
just need to differentiate the good and bad.
It is very difficult but today life is very expensive and dangerous and bad there are so few good things.
nice day!

nezavisima,
You are absolutely correct. Every day we face something new and different. I've also noticed that when we face the same problems, we seem to always react the same way we did when it first occurred. How is that we must go through the same and then different experiences before our attitude changes toward them?
For example a few years ago I would lose my patience with the computer and resort to kicking it. Now I just grit my teeth, clench my fist and rant and rave. Sometimes I think we let bad stuff happen to ourselves, but I do not always point the finger and say we deserve it. There are lessons to be learned from both good and bad experiences. The true question is will we learn well from those experiences? I certainly hope so.
