Earthquakes can kill or be a miracle!!

Human ear - The complexity of the human ear

Robert Valderzak fell on Father's Day and lost his hearing due to the fall. He was in hospital when there was an earthquake in Washington and it was a miracle, he could hear. Some doctors say it might be because of the shaking that settled some of the fluids in his ears. My dad has been suffering from a ringing in his ear for about 20 years. It nearly drove him mad when it started. He would have sudden attacks that left him dizzy and he would have trouble walking, as if he's drunk (dad doesnt drink at all). I was seeing an acupuncturist at the time and told her about dad and she said she could prevent the attack but not stop the ringing. Dad went to see her even though he didnt believe in acupuncture and he has been doing very well since he went to see her (over 15 yrs ) Nothing can be done for people with this problem. The ringing is caused by some liquid sort of in the back of the ear. Im thinking that if this man could be cured from the shaking of the earthquake, wouldnt it be worth looking into? I havent told dad about it yet but I will tell him and now Im wondering how I could sort of shake dad to give it a try, but I dont want to make it worse or do more damage. What would you do if you were in my situation. How would you try to "shake" someone to give it a try......I think its worth it, dont you?? http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/odd/10162608/deaf-man-able-to-hear-after-earthquake/

Earthquakes are disasters because if it kills then it is a disaster. I don't understand how it could even be close to a miracles. Miracles normally save peoples lives not kill them. Yeah their are very rare cases that earthquakes could be miracles but they hurt more then they cure so that makes them disasters.

I would never dare say that an earthquake is NOT a disaster, it is, but in this particular case, it helped this deaf man hear again, so THAT was a miracle as far as Im concerned, wouldnt you agree?

It's always nice to hear of something good coming out of something bad!

@ Mandolingirl, my thoughts too. I didnt mean to say that an earthquake wasnt a disaster but to see someone be healed BECAUSE of it....its great!!

I have this condition and it is very annoying. I'll tell you what you go shake a few people and if you cure them, let me know, I may find my way to Washington and you.

If I knew for sure, 100% sure that it would do NO harm, you bet your booties I would be shaking dad. Hey you know this new gym equipment that is vibrating? They say you can stand on it and its like you're exercising It makes your whole body shake or vibrate and it must be like an earthquake. Thats what Im thinking about now. Im wondering if I could get dad to stand on one...if it would be safe.....especially since he's 84 I will try and get in contact with his doctor and if something can be done, if it works, I wont forget you!!

I don't think you should try shaing him since you don't know what the outcome may be. I am glad to hear about the man who did gain his hearing probably as a result of the earthquake, but that was such an isolated incidence Just the fact that you have not heard of any other cases like that tells you how likely this is to be a cure for hearing loss. There are too many unknown factors about the man who did get his hearing back. What kind of condition did he have in the first place? What angle was he sitting or laying when this happened. That man was truly fortunate. It is almost as if he hit the lottery. But like in lottery, many many play but only a few will win. It is too risky to take that kind of chance with your father.

They say he was in his hospital bed when it happened, so he was lying down probably but as you say I cant be sure. I wouldnt try something with dad without asking his doctor first. Dad is 84 yrs old, so not sure he could withstand any kind of shaking to start with. But I will look into it, I will do my research and make sure that IF we decide to try it, its under doctor supervision. I would never take it upon myself to try anything with someone else's health. I might on MYSELF but not on someone else. But its still nice to see a glimmer of hope....even if its a tiny one
