Discouragement: A Poster's Greatest Enemy

With anything in life, we can feel discouraged, myLot being no exception. There are times where some people might feel that they put a lot of thought in a post but only get a few responses. Despite the fact that we try and tell ourselves not be discouraged, it can be humbling in many ways. Or we just see a string of topics that don't pull in our interest and we get frustrated. However it is best not let this feeling get the better of us. There are times where we need to take a step back and calm down. Return in a few hours or the next day when we have had an opportunity to calm our minds. Its human to get discouraged but when we let discouragement rule us, it can be a problem.

Yes it is a discouragement and one of the reasons I do enter a great many discussions from a lot of new members and those who are not on my friend list. Sometimes I flip through the tabs and can see someone who put a lot of effort into a discussion and there are times I do feel bad and carefully re-read the discussion to see what I can add to help. I do think about at times that perhaps if they do not get responses that, might discourage members from returning the next day. But as I recommend to any member who does start a discussion about not receiving responses, is that what I too was told early on in my early days. That they should enter others discussions as well and this will prompt members to remember them and be more apt to responding to theirs. Like several aspects in life we simply can't give up and keep trying.

That is sound for sure, we got to keep trying, no matter how many times where it might seem to be rather frustrating. I think that there is a fact that many myLot posters tend to give up within their first couple of weeks or at least a month or so. Yet it takes time to get your name out there, to get your name noticed. Give it time and you might really have a great time on myLot. But it will take some time and by giving up, you'd be doing yourself a disservice. Don't get discouraged and just keep trucking. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Discouragement is an emotion that can bring you down. Your self esteem and self worth and self comfidence are often put in jeopardy when we allow discouragement to become an obstacle to our lives and our hopes and our dreams. Positive thoughts and feelings will bar the way of discouragement and allow us to lead a more productive life.

Positive thoughts are something that are going to drive a lot of things about life in great direction. We need to step back, look at the positives from times. That is really the best reason why we should step back. It will give us time to take an impressive deep breath and really just not get rattled by certain things in life. Productivity is going to get increased for sure. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I have had luck at mylot, always discovering a post where I want to share my thoughts. I don´t mind if they are from my friends or not. I don´t make many posts myself though. Most of the things I want to talk about are already said so I browse until I get a nice post.

THis site is so similar to the real world (all kinds of people, many countries, many cultures and religions) that one does not have time to get bored here. Some days I only check cooking sites. Yet, even there, different cultures provide a lot of ideas that you would not have anywhere.

Indeed you got to find what interests you. Otherwise it can be made a chore. And that is the last thing that we want a website such as myLot. If it becomes a chore, than really it is going to be something that we are not going to really spend all that much time about. I just look over the posts a little bit at a time, and see what I find. There is an amazing variety. I try not to get discouraged regardless. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

You mean that doesn't happen every day? I know what you mean. But that discouragement is more than offset when a post really takes off! A hundred topics that don't interest us - by the same poster! - now that's frustrating. That is when I take some time to do other things.

I really agree with you on that last statement. I mean there are a lot of times where people post topic after topic, after topic in a row, like something like about twenty in a row. I think that five is the absolute maximum per day and I can see how that would rather be kind of pushing it in many ways. There are many ways where discouragement can be defeated indeed. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.
