It may be a rough year here in the USA, but I think the press has no other news to report and so they give added importance to each event. I think they have been told to pull back on the wars and concentrate on weather instead. The public will then forget how much we are spending on those wars, each and every day. I think the Government has much more control over the press than we think.

...and hunger in African countries, to add on what you have already mentioned. This natural calamities are becoming 'expected occurrences' in daily lives. I just wonder where our world is heading to.. I believe these are signs of end days as predicted in the Bible. I don't know how other religious people see these, I wish I can learn from them too.

I don´t think it has anything to do with 2012. We have destroyed this planet so much that it´s taken revenge now. I firmly believe that natural disasters are going to happen each time more severely in the future all over the world. And all our wonderful technology won´t be able to save us.

Hello, Dear friend, Yes,I agree with you that there are more natural disasters that happened recently all over the world, perhaps this is some kind of sign that the nature has called upon us.Among these disasters ,there are some that we can control ,there are some that we could not control. We should treat them differently,However,we can not ignore the fact that the environment we live in is doing something to us becase of the wrong doings of some human being. Although I do remember incidents like this happening throughout my life, I do agree with you in that they seem to be on the increase. As for it being the precursor to "the end of the world", I feel it probably has more to do with things like carbon emissions messing up the natural weather behavioural patterns around the earth.

but in my view the natural calmity rate has increased since human has disturbed nature by polluting it many ways but sudden increase in natural calmity makes me to think yes 2012 is approaching are we heading towards end Hare Krishna Ganesh

I won't even bother cheering on new year's day 2013, but it will warm my heart that the religious loonies have been proven wrong yet again. The changes in the biosphere due to all the things people mentioned in earlier posts is likely the reason. The added weight of the melted ice packs may be adding enough pressure onto the undersea faults that tremors and quakes are increasing, and the changes in the weather patterns are almost certainly a result of global warming. We can look forward to much worse, I think; I am not unhappy that my end is within sight, I don't think I'd enjoy being around in fifteen years or so. Lash
