Spelling time with my niece

My niece Sophie is 3 years old. She only knows the spelling of the word DOG. We keep on teaching her the spelling of CAT but she keeps on forgetting. A while ago over lunch, we had the spelling time. Me: Spell DOG? Sophie: D-O-G Me: Spell CAT? Sophie: I know that already! Me: So, spell CAT? Sophie: Don't make me talk, I'm eating! Me: Spell DOG? Sophie: D-O-G. Me: Spell DOG? Sophie: D-O-G. Me: Spell CAT? Sophie: CAT again?? I know that already! Me: So, spell CAT! Sophie: Don't make me talk, I'm eating! Me: You said you know it already! Sophie: I do! Me: So, spell CAT! Sophie: Don't make me talk, I'm eating! Me: Spell DOG? Sophie: D-O-G! And we went on like that for quite some time! In the end, I was the one who surrendered. Her mother, my sister heard us and even she was laughing at her own daughter.

Secret, i have a nice laugh when reading your this discussion. Every kid tends to be smart and mischievous in any stages of their life. But, we can't be angry with them since that's their way to express themselves. We as an adult needs to have lots of patience to be able to guide them nicely. I have my share of trouble when comes to guide and teach my son about his studies. But, i always trying my best to have my patience around the corner, to make sure that he completes his studies and homework before he is having fun with his toy or watch tv.

I can't really be angry at her, in fact, she's really funny. Sometimes, my patience is really tested if she keeps on asking about every thing. And she's annoying when she throws tantrums.

I don't know if she's just really being curious or plain forgetful because she keeps on asking the same things. Like whenever she's in my room, I have some posters there and she would ask "who is that?" and the next time she'll visit my room, she'll ask again who are those in the posters.

She's really, really adorable and cute! And she's funny, too. What's more amusing that I find in her is that she's a big kid and some people have said she's like a little guy. If not for her hair and earrings, she can really be mistaken as a boy.

Yeah! She and her brother is the exact opposite. Her brother is thin while Sophie has wider shoulders and fat legs. Also, they are like coffee and milk, with Sophie being the milk and her brother as the coffee due to their skin complexion.

She's always like that jaiho. Many times she's trying to uto me. Like there was a time she asked, Tita do you know how to make my milk? When in fact, I've done it a lot of times for her! She just couldn't ask me directly because she knows I would tell her not to dede and just eat rice. I can always feel that if I said yes, she would say If you really know how to, can you make my milk now? That's why I would always tell her Wag mo kong utuin! Kids will be cute outsmarting adults because they are just kids. But when they reach that age that they really start to think and outsmarting would mean lying and manipulating, it's not cute anymore.

That is funny! With this I see that they start really early when it comes to claiming being to busy to do whatever has been asked that they cant do, or just dont feel like trying. Should have thrown a loop in there, "okay, how do you spell BAT?" Just be prepared, once they get older when its chore time they will have an unending supply of homework!!

Yeah, I think she will really take this behavior with her as she grows up. Most kids have a lot of excuses not to do their chores and it's really annoying. It's just cute when kids are still small. But when they grow up, it becomes irritating.

secretbear, you niece looks really adorable and smart with her persistent mischievous way. And you also have to finally lol...To people who love kids it's enjoyable but have no alternative at all very often when getting along with such kids who are fond of pranks. And have to in compliance with them consequently

Hahaha! Can I laugh as well? LOL. Children at that age needs our extreme patience. It's hard, right? But you know, she's good to teach to because she responds even though it takes a long time before she memorize the lesson for the day. It made me remember my student in tutorial, she's already 7 years old yet she still seem to have a great difficulty on reading simple words. It really did a lot of effort on my part to teach her and you know, she did improve after several months. More patience because it's all worth the hard work when Sophie learns! That's your reward. Keep it up!

Of course, you can laugh! I posted this so anyone who would read this can have a good laugh. We are all patient with her especially her mother. We can't do anything anyway but be patient. But her brother, my 6-year old nephew is not patient with her. lol He always take Sophie's chance to spell CAT even before she can say something. ^^ And even if Sophie wouldn't be able to answer, she would still be angry at her brother for stealing her show.
