Does anyone have any good suggestions for putting drops in a cats's eyes. My cat has an eye infection and the vet gave me some eyedrops for him, but he absolutely hates having the drops put in his eyes and puts up a big fight everytime I try to put them in. At the rate we are going I'll never get them in without one us us getting hurt. Thanks.

Your vet should have given tips and instructions for doing this. But, if those methods don't work, you can try wrapping the cat in a towl or blanket and placing them on a table or other hard surface. If this cat is a full grown cat,you can get behind them using your body to hold them down. tilt your cat's head back, getting gravity working for you instead of against you, and peal the lid just enough so the drops go in. Some may leak out, but that's okay. It just means you're getting them in. Now your cat might fight you, but you'll have the upper hand. The most he or she will be able to do is try and swat your arm away, but with a towl or blanket you won't feel it. Tables offer more leverage because it helps hold them in place. I've given cats medicine, and believe me it's not easy. If you're still having trouble, take the cat back and tell the vet you're having trouble and see if there is an oral option. Furthermore you can have a nurse instruct you on how to properally administer medicine. Believe me they deal with animals who pt up one hell of a fight and know how to do it so you both walk away releitevly unscathed.

I watched my friend a few years ago putting eye drops in her cats eye, as it was infected and i will say that she got them in easy, after a fashion. What she done was got a towel that was thick and wrapped the towel around the cat, while her teenage daughter put the drops in, before she used the towel the cat made a lot of deep and i mean deep wounds on her arms as well as bite marks. After a few days of using the towel the cat knew not to panic and it was easier for her and her daughter.Good luck and i hope all is ok soon.
