To all christians mylotters, in this modern world of new technology, such as the presence of internet, cellphone, ipod, notebook, laptop and ebook... and with our hectic schedule of doing multi-tasking to augment our daily need for food shelter and clothing, do you still have the time to read the bible? I for one do not have the time, for i feel so exhausted, tired and sleepy when i reach home. I only have a few minutes to relax and watch the latest news, then assist my kids do their assignments at the same time play with my 1 year and seven months old baby boy before i eat my dinner. thanks to my househelp i can still breath.

As a Christian we are taught to make God as the center of our lives and be Christlike in action and behavior. The most effective way of knowing God is reading the Bible, if you think that reading the Bible is simply a task naturally eventually you'll get tired of it however if you LOVE what you are doing you'll never run out of time to do it. Reading the Bible only takes 15-30 minutes a day. You could still read a verse of the Bible everyday by using the applications of social networking sites. Memorizing a verse everyday will greatly help us in growing up spiritually. Have trust and Faith in God... take one simple step...and He will do the rest. God bless you and your family.

@lazybug I agree with you wholeheartedly. There are things that we do throughout the day that are essential. If we set aside this time for Bible reading it will greatly help us to keep our goal of reading the Bible daily. I really do appreciate how much we can learn when we read and meditate on what we are learning. And as we strive to apply these things in our life, we not only benefit but our family as well. It is amazing to me how just reading the Bible for 15-30 minutes a day we can read the whole Bible in a year. It is a really great goal.

I suggest you pray about that :) I believe God will help you more in managing time if you can allot time reading His word. I know it's not easy looking for a proper time to read the Scriptures. In my case I just put the Bible beside me on bed and when there's nothing to do I can't help but open it and read some passages. As you've mentioned about technology, I've created a Bible website a few months ago. You might be interested to read the Scripture on it. Here's the link: taglish.authorizedbible.org

Also, like what's happening to every one of us there are a lot of things to do. We can get so busy and forget taking time for the Lord. I believe Satan is very happy for this. He can also do things to make us more busy and will have no time to know the Lord more.

Never ever be too busy to read His Word. - The Bible
Oh dear, I used to be like you but not anymore because I learned through experience that if I do I am the loser. Now I am very careful so as not to feel like I'm too busy to read the Bible. I don't let the busyness of life deprive me of the blessings of the Word of God. You know, I am just as busy as a bee but never would I not read the Bible in a day. As soon as I wake up in the morning I will not touch anything unless I've knelt and prayed and then after I'd open the Bible so that after I've talked to Him in prayers He would then talk to me through His Word. This is where lies the blessings. When you start your day with God yo can expect for the best for the rest of the day. The Bible is the lamp unto my feet and the light unto my path so I can never ever set aside the Bible in favor of the many tasks I have to tackle for the day. If I do, then I miss the good part. We have to learn the good lesson from the story of Mary and Martha in the Book of Luke Chapter 10. Sisters Mary and Martha both loved the Lord but one time when Jesus visited them, Martha kept herself so busy and anxious in the kitchen instead of spending time with Jesus. Mary on the other hand sat down at Jesus feet and listened to Him. Martha felt bad that Mary was all the while sitting while she was working hard in the kitchen and she approached Jesus and asked Him if He did not even care that Mary left her alone in serving but Jesus instead of siding with Martha gave Martha a very remarkable reply. Jesus said "Martha, Martha though art too careful and troubled about many things; but one thing is needful and Mary has chosen the good part which shall not be taken away from her." So with this story, shall we allow the many things we have to do for the day hinder us from listening to Jesus through the Bible, His Holy Word? Remember, Jesus said, "one thing is needful.." What is that one thing? That is listening to His voice and this Mary chose which pleased the Lord a lot. So... my dear johan don't be like Martha, be Mary because if you do... you will enjoy the benefit of being a woman after God's own heart.

If reading the Bible calms or relaxes you, for God's sake read it! As far as I'm concerned, there is no physical proof as to the relevance of the bible. It is simply a famous fairytale that many people fantasize about. If the Bible was the true voice of God, it would contain the information needed to change the world for the better. To those who would say,"Ok it does!" My reply is," The Bible has had 2000 years to make a difference, and has been a miserable Failure, lets try another way!"

I'd be lying if I said I read it all the time. Although there was a time when I just picked it up, opened a random page, and read some lines. Reading the bible kinda felt relieving at some point. It kind of relaxes you spiritually and rid you of all the worries.

I agree with you that we all are very busy and it's easy to get tired. I do feel that it is very important to keep a schedule of reading the Bible daily. I try to be flexible with my schedule for Bible reading. I like to read to my daughter everyday so sometimes if i haven't got my Bible reading done then my daughter and I will read the Bible. We don't have to sit down for an hour a day. Even if we only read for five minutes or a few chapters. There are times throughout the day that we do meaningless things especially with all the gadgets we have. If we take five minutes away from something else there is diffinitely time to read the Bible. It's best to read the Bible when we have time to think and reflect, but we could even read portions of the Bible doing commercial breaks.

Its really true jonah that we don't have time even just to glance some of the pages in the bible. We are pre- occupied this new generation style. We have to reach out our children and I even feel that we still don't have enough time for them. We don't even have time for our personal heeds. In my case i do utter a prayer in everything i do. Offer to Him. I have also this food for the day,a passages from the bible put inside a small container. During the day i have to pick one read and live for it the whole day. in this way even w/o reading the bible, I can live His words everyday.try to do it. For this day i got john 13.34 "And now i give you a new commandment:Love one another as i have loved you." So how will i live this passage for the day i pick? Well, i have to give love to my family to my hubby esp. even my feeling was hurt.make coffee for him. In this way you have Jesus in your heart. This is just one of the simple thing that we don't need to really scan and read between the lines what is written in the bible its your actions towards your neighbors that matters most.
