It was a Mandatory Evacuation

I was reading an article earlier about tropical storm Lee earlier that really ticked me off. There was a mandatory evacuation for a couple towns but no one left. The locals did not care nor think the storm would be bad enough to put them in any danger. And they were still putting up sand bags around homes just in case. So what if its only a tropical storm, no one though katrina would kill that many people. I was one of the first to see damage done by katrina and let me tell you that news made it look like a picnic in the park. I was asked if I was a reporter because no one was allowed to take pictures. I have blocked almost every image out of my mind of that day. But even with what was shown on the news, people still don't leave. Parents put their children in serious danger by staying. It's like they just don't care and it kills me to have seen the carnage a hurricane can do and people still don't have enough sense to just leave. What are your opinions?

We had that trouble here in ny in 2006 but this time on 9/8/2011 everyone listened and 10,000 people evacuated because of lee and flash flooding. My opinion is if your told to leave and you chose not to then dont expect to be rescued when you realize it too late.

Those adult believe it is their rights to stay in their home and town, no one should try to 'remove' them from hurricane or tornado or whatever impending natural disaster. Sometime it is very difficult for the authority to enforce mandatory evacuation order in time of trouble as many people do think they can outride the danger and beat the odd of getting kill by flood, hurrican or twister. I assume most of the human being are foolhardy and selfish creautres that like to act out of ignorant and don't like to use their common sneses provided they have one inside their pea side brain. Many time, resulted in many innocent children and baby were killed by their arrogant streak and yet stupidity thought no matter how many more precedents unfold in front of their eye. Sigh!
