I just heard the Joy Behar married her beau of 30 years this summer. The reason? So when one of them dies, the other won't have to pay taxes on the assets and when one is in the hospital they can visit . I thought that is great! What does romance have to do with it? When I heard she married , my first thought was that she or her man were ill because she once joked that she would marry on her dying bed. That way she could remain married! Lol!So far so good! So congrats to Joy and Steve!

I don't know who they are, but I think it's great. It's never ever too late for true love to triumph, and I hope they are happy together for the rest of their lives.

The marriage had Nothing to do with love, it was for security... of property the way the bride describe it. She isn't a blushing bride. In fact she looks exactly the same as before. She has been with her now Hubby for 30 years!

As you have often said romance or love need not be confined to a marriage alone and this is not my thought any way!
But marrying for getting the benefits of a marriage licence is not uncommon. Most do it for the same reason and I wonder if I did it too for the same reason. Ofcourse we courted only for six months and then 'tied the knot'!

Many do live together but the State Only recognizes married couples.

I wonder why the 'live-in' concept is not as popular as marriages.

From this it seems that those who live together are not interested in the benefits a marriage licence offers. True love?

I think the days of getting married for true love are over. People no have alterior motives to get married. And it all has to do with money. I heard that she got married, but really, who cares. I don't know if I ever would get married again, but I will never say never. And if I do Marry my girl it is for one thing only, true love, money has nothing to do with it for me.

I'm so happy for you both. Me/ I can say never when marriage is involved. I can tell you the fastest way for my guy to lose me is to propose!Thankfully he knows that.

I wonder if Joy Behar is no other than the person who holds several posts simultaneously, namely comedian, writer, actress, and a co-host of the talk show The View.If so,she is getting on for seventy. It sounds like she is a legendary figure. What a pity!her prediction-would marry on dying bed-has unfortunately come true.

They met when they were in their 30's! That's not too old.

Here we call it "love in the twilight of life".I guess many people are moved by their story.

there are many reasons why people could get married. some are romantic. some are practical. some are ideal. i think this news story is one of the practical marriages. there is an immediate use and function that benefit the couples. well, we can not discount love in the decision, but it looks like a very practical decision from the partners involved.

They asked does it feel different and she said no. they have been together 30 years, 4 of them not living together I believe and the rest they lived together. So for her nothing changed. I'm glad because they were happy before.

I think so too. Many months ago here at My Lot many were trying to explain how I had to marry my guy or I would lose his assets. I said Im not with him for his money! I think it is so sad that they Had to marry to portect their possessions from the State!

I was disappointed until I found out the reason. In fact this is how I would marry and why, strictly to protect my stuff from the government! But I would wait 30-35 years to marry! I like that!
