Well, Im not a teacher but a student. Ive been seeing a lot of difficulties of a teacher. Have you heard that teachers are working 8 hours a day, except those hours they are spending at their house making lesson plans and checking school papers. I think its a physical abuse for them. Its ok if they are paid by a large amount of money but its not. They have paid a very small amount of money and sometimes their salaries are delayed. I have my aunt who is a teacher, she's been saying to me that teaching is her passion that's why she's not stopping teaching. But when I see her life, its quite pitiful because she needs to sell some stuff for extra money and she even have a lot of loans. Well, for me teachers are heroes.

Yeah! it is unfair that teachers work so hard and get paid so little. Right now in my area, all public school teachers took on a strike and marched in the streets demanding for better pay. So many students didn't have to go to school today. My physics teacher told me that the money may not be there but the experience is worth having. She loves my class and she loves teaching. That's what gets teachers going. =)

I agree with you. I not only heard about their sufferings but I've seen them suffer but they are happy with their profession. My mom was a public school teacher. She's already retired. My two (2) sisters are public school teachers too. I really don't like to become a teacher because of what I saw during the time that my mom was still teaching. But they really suffered so much but as I saw them they are happy with the profession of their choice.

Hi, friend. It's good to hear that you are so considerate and understand the difficulties of a being a teacher, while most of students can never realize this. I'm a college teacher, but there are a lot of similarities between being a college teacher and a high school teacher. Though I don't have to stay on the campus for 8 hours a day, I still have to work at home preparing lessons and going over students' assignments. This can take as long as 5 hours. Fortunately, we're paid well. The worst thing about teaching is that some students never take their studies seriously. They cut class to play and amuse themselves. Some even never show up during a whole semester. If I'm too strict with them, they go to department leaders to accuse me. How ridiculous! So now I often tell my students that I will not interfere with their daily lives and studies. They are adults and they are supposed to be responsible for themselves.

Hi, gidz0518. No, I have not heard of the suffering of the public school teacher's. I know that many teachers are very exhausted because most of them have younger children at home. Also, many of them have second jobs that they have to go to. Many teachers are not getting paid for what they are really worth. This is very sad because teachers work really hard to teach students. I do agree, teachers are heroes.

I also think that they are heroes. Almost all the important profession in the society cannot be there if there have not been a good teacher or professor behind. I think that they should really be paid accordingly. But sadly, in the Philippines, public school teachers are not paid that good. Some end up working abroad where salary is better. Some decide to do teaching as a call because they want to help, but even heroes need to eat and fulfill the needs of his family... It is a sad truth, but there is nobody who can solve this situation but the labor department and the government.

There are many hardships in a lot of jobs. Being a teacher is a priviledged position to hold and they do get 6-8 weeks holiday over the summer too!
