I do not like mosquitoes and swell from their bites. I soon discovered that applying hand sanitizer to my mosquito bites prevented swelling and blemish. I also found there are several plants that one can grow around home or farm to keep away mosquitoes and thus minimize contracting mosquito-related diseases such as malaria. Did you know that plants such as Rosemary, Garlic, Basil, Vanilla leaf, Marigold, Lemongrass, Catnip, Tansies, Cedar, etc. are effective mosquito repellents? You can keep mosquitoes away and avoid mosquito-related diseases by growing these plants in your surroundings.

As I live in a tropical area, mosquitoes are part of the daily life. So vape mats and mosquitoe coils we use a lot here. For the rest there's not much one can do, as make sure that roofs and drainage systems are clean, so water can freely run away to prevent the growth of mosquitoe larvae. And once bitten a good antihistamine cream will help.

I am glad to know you folks know it is also important to get rid of standing water, which can be a good breeding ground for mosquitoes. But there is still more that you can do, such as taking advantage of natural plants that would keep these mosquitoes away if grown around you.
