Now what its time come to install antivirus AVG.Now it have been asking for full system scan for last 4 hours and i have postponed it by 1 hour four times since then. So in my case, I don't like antivirus scan while i want to be free of viruses. What do you like? tell me.

you can try avast antivirus guys. It doesn't eat your ram memory and has effective way to kill all viruses, or maybe you can also try to use vipre or eset node antivirus, the small size antivirus ever. have a nive day

I had used avast for 2 hours but it had a problem with my PC.When i had been using avast,my OS always used to being caught by some rootkit. So i don't like avast and it also takes very much time on virus scan and in boot-time scan it is kinda irritating.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. The AVG seems to be very problematic and I do not like it. I found that most so-called sophisticated anti-viruses programs can result in computer problems. I finally resorted to simple Anti-Malware and the CCleaner, and often use Stagepage.com for searches and most freezes and delays are resolved. On the other hand, if you are opinionated and of the habit of expressing controversial views, then be informed that there are operating systems, search engines and browsers that are recruited by some governments to prevent posting by freezing and forced-shutting your computer. hello netsbridge yes avg is quite problematic but i have its license so i don't want to spend extra money on other antiviruses. I don't have any experiences with Anti-Malwares and CCleaner. Some of my friends had a lot of problem with these anti malwares. So I am kinda afraid of it and avoid it. If you have known any good and secure one then kindly please suggest me.I am in need.

program your anti virus to do a full scan once a week while you are away or at lunch or out somewhere as it slows down most computers a lot but just once a week and done when you are out it will not drive you batty with slow working computer.also my free anti virus watches all day every day for the slightest thing that looks like malware or a virus and nabs it then tells me and advises me to delete it or quarantine it.[

If that is necessary to scan the whole system, I won't mind to do so. But you said the antivirus software telling you that 4 hours needed to scan the whole system. that just too long, and why it should need that long to scan the whole system? I would suggest you find another antivirus that would speed up the process while you can free from the virus.

Hi kingparker, I am not telling that it is asking for 4 hours scan.It is just asking for scan which would take almost 2 hours but i can postpone it by 4 hours and then it will ask again after 4 hours to full scan.So but I have to do full scan and it is necessary to be safe.

Oh I also find it very troublesome to perform full scanning of the computer system, I am using kaspersky. Although it is generally a very good anti virus software, it slows down my computer very much and I have to stop using my computer when performing the full scan. So what I usually do is to perform quick scan instead. I am not very familiar with the avg, but I think it probably have this kind of similar Function which is pretty much more convenient. I only do full scan before I have to do some money transaction or Internet banking. It is indeed very lazy approach in protecting my computer haha.

Hi pork Yes it is very much troublesome, but what to do, we have to be safe from viruses also.I like Kaspersky and its quick search but in AVG there is a problem that after installation it ask for full system scan one time. You can postpone it for 1,2,3 or 4 hours but it will reappear again. So i am continuously postponing it but now its time come to start this scan and have some rest. So enjoy the day.

You don`t need to do a fool scan. Here is what you should do .When you defragment your hard drive make sure the Antivirus is started .If you have any viruses the antivirus will find them during defragmentation so you don`t need to scan your hard drive. And if you want to scan then scan only windows partition not the whole hard drive. Also scan the files you are downloading from internet

I am using Avira right now. I used to have Avast. I recommend either one of these, instead of AVG. I have nothing against AVG, I just find these two better. Avast offers the pre-boot scan which is really a cool feature, where it scans everything before you boot your OS. Well, I don't do a full PC scan now because some of my files contain false virus and could probably get deleted, and I feel lazy putting them on the ignore list. Anyway, good luck and hope you get your computer back alright.

Doing a Virus scan on my pc makes me feel better and sure that there is no virus on my pc...if you hate scanning your pc just keep live monitoring on just in case a bug from internet may crawl into your harddisk...but i recommend a safe scan ...
