So.. i am thinking of doing a movie marathon... i am thinking of what type of movies should i have myself be ready with?
sometimes, its just that we do not have the same mood... i mean, we'd thought we want to watch some feel good movie, then we'd suddenly want to watch something more with actions in them.. so what do you think is the kind of movie that would not bore someone if the type is to be shown for about 3 consecutive times? he he
have you ever had a movie marathon on a weekend or on a weekday night? what was the type of movie that you put on the player?

I love movie marathons. Longest one I've had is a weekend filled with horror movies. The trick is to pick the very best ones in that category with different plot lines. Around halloween I always try to have a few days dedicated to nothing, but horror movies. What I like to do is take the firsts of every sequel movie and watch those then watch the next ones in line.

We will usually do something like Tremors - it's like a cult favorite or my family. We also will watch a whole season in a marathon from Netflix - the last one we did was Robin Hood - the BBC TV Show - it was fantastic! My daughter and I also sometimes watch the Hoarder's marathon on A & E network. Gets us motivated to clean more.

Just last month Turner classic Movies did their Summer Under The Stars. What they do is take a movie star and play his or her films back to back in a 24 hour period. This month They Kirk Douglass . I saw 5 of his films back to back and it flowed! There were all different genres but Kirk himself linked them together. or you can play a trilogy, If you have All night , play Godfather , Godfather2, Godfather3. do you like westerns? try Fistful Of Dollars, For A few Dollars More amd The Good , The Bad , And The Ugly. There are so many ways to see a movie marathon.

chiyosan,
I believe the selection will depend what's your favorite categories or genres i.e. actor, actress, action, thriller and so on.
Recently, one of the local cinema chain actually aired the whole series of Harry Potter which was a sold out success. You may want to consider this.

i prefer action movies. my wife though loves drama but we both consider both types of movies when we are watching together during weekends.

I go for romantic comedies. There's a feel good effect whenever the movie ends.
But for me when I'm in the mood for a "long" watch mood, I opt for TV series marathon. I loved watching ugly betty. Recently I finished season 4. I just loved how it turned out in the end.

My movie marathons are more genre based. I would like to mix it up. Romantic in afternoon, war movies in the evening and horror or suspense in the night. Not counting Lord of the Rings i do not like to watch any movies again and again. Just last week i saw '500 days of summer' followed by 'We were Soldiers', 'G.I. Jane' and finished by 'Saw'.
Still my all time favorite is the movie marathon where i saw all the parts of Lord of the Rings Extended editions back to back. That took my entire evening and most of the night but was awesome fun.

It would depend if it was just for you or You and Friends, and what sort of Movies you were in the mood for..Fave Actors,Characters,Genres,..Movies with sequels are themed and ready to go..Austin Powers,Star wars,Star Trek,The Matrix,Terminator,Blade,Bond Movies (TOO much action?...
(ARE there many Romcom sequels?
) I'm just thinking how best could you link the "Alien" and "Predator" Franchises in a marathon?! It'd probably take a weekend to get through all of those..TV/Movie spinoffs would work too.. My Avatar is a Firefly/Serenity tribute..I saw the spinoff Movie before being aware of the TV show that preceded it,bought the Show DVD box set afterwards, and Had a marathon watch of the set within 24 hours..Have fun with your Marathon!

I've been doing movie marathons for years and usually do at least one a month where I watch around 7 movies on a Sunday. My advice is to pick out 10 movies, you won't watch them all but at least it gives you a choice of switching between one to another if you are not in the mood. And then I also suggest that if you plan to do an all day movie marathon pick a wide range of genres.
For example I usually start my marathons with somethng relatively short, simple to follow and fun like a rom-com. And then as my day progresses I usually follow that with a western, then a thriller and some sci-fi before hitting the horror genre in the evevening. But the trick I have found is that to also alternate between long and short movies because watching movies which are over 2 hours long back to back can be quite dull.

oceans 11 12 and 13 will do the trick..
unless u wanna go maximum full olympic marathon.. lol
go Harry potter 1 - 7.2
or just Lord of the ring trilogy..(but i think this can be depressing at some point..)
so i suggest stick with The Oceans..

Me and my friends always love a good movie marathon!
We would pick one of our friends' house, even if it's against their will and barge in with a whole stack of movies to watch. The most we got through though was like 2 movies because we got super energetic after some pizzas and we started getting hyper around the house. We are planning a movie marathon in which we will go through the whole Harry Potter series in one day! I don't think we'll even make it though 2 but my friends are so enthusiastic about it. So if you like, choose a movie in series and try to beat the record by watching all of them in one day! =D
