my windows 7 home premium evaluation version has expired. I want to install XP instead but windows 7 is blocking it and when I attempt a bootup install, it just bluescreens. windows 7 media center's streaming content isn't even available where I'm at. I figure, I'll just cough up the cash when everything is going 64 bit. Times are tough. I'm at my wit's end so I'm open to suggestions. Anyone?

why you install windows xp? try to install windows vista. or complete format your windows 7 first. its keep your data as it is. so why you trying to install windows xp over 7? its not possible to install old sys. over latest sys. as per my knowledge.

My windows 7 home premium is just an EVALUATION VERSION and it has EXPIRED. Also, one of its best services is only available in the states. It doesn't make much sense to spend money for it, right now. I'd rather buy...you know, food.

Why don't you just try reformatting your system. If you can still make a backup of your important files, then make a backup. You really can't just downgrade, the only solution would be to boot from your XP CD if you really want to downgrade.

You simply can not downgrade from 7 to xp just like that. First of all, you'll go 2 step back. Sure, I also like xp and 101% ignore Vista, but you simply can not install xp over a newer WOS. The work around is simple: First you must format the hdd (actually only C/ where is windows) then come with a XP and install. Is possible W7 - a is an evaluation version - to have some extra protections so there is a second work around: Find a friend with a pc and with at least equal knowledges. Take your hdd, connect it inide his pc AS SLAVE - and make his hdd MASTER (usually if a pc have only one hdd default, is not set as master). After, open his pc as normal then go to new hdd locations, find window and delete it. Then put back into your pc your hdd (do not forget to make it back default, as it was slave) and start install of whatever windows you want ...
