I was invited by a couple of Chinese friends to Chinatown today, they are having this Mooncake festival going on. I don't know what the tradition is all about, but it is all about worshiping the moon. A folklore in Chinese tradition for centuries, they believe there is a beautiful lady with a rabbit inhabit in the moon. Somehow they made these delicious mooncake and variety shape of lanterns to celebrate this special day. Tonight in Chinatown, we got big crowd of people, and many of those traditional food tastings going on. Also, we got musical performance, and many more. Due to work tomorrow, I have to leave my friends earlier. What a big night tonight. I wish that I will see the same party next year.

Yesterday was the offical Mooncake Festival. I celebrated with my family over a simple dinner gathering. When I was small, I remembered playing the lantern at night with my friends and eating the mooncake. It is a tradition for Chinese to celebrate this day every year. There are many types of mooncake flavours sold out there. Slowly, the traditional flavours has evolved to more modern flavours like chocolate, milk, etc. Even Haagen Dazz is selling ice-cream mooncake!

Yes, a lot of variety and flavours. But the traditional flavour was still the best seller. My Malaysian chinese friend always gave us mooncake with different flavour, so we can taste it.

I'm glad that you had a great time for mooncake festival last year. Mooncake festival is yet another major celebration for the Chinese. It's really a happening celebration. Now they have more and more variety of mooncake available which some of them really taste great. I am not so sure the moon lady tales if it is real or not. But most Chinese do know about the tale. Thus, they also say that we should never point our index finger at moon as something will cut our ear off.

The Moon Festival (Mid-autumn Festival) is one of the most popular and traditional festivals for Chinese. Since it is the full moon and the moon will be bright in this special day. So it means the whole family will join together and enjoy seeing the moon. We will have a feast to celebrate to it. It is nice that a family will stay with each other and enjoy this happy festival. I love China

Mooncake festival is also called mid autumn festival celebrated by the Chinese people. China was having it as their public holiday, meaning to say, this is a big event for the Chinese community. Yes, the mooncakes are sweet pastry and they came with different kinds of taste, such as, the black beans, the green tea paste and they have a yolk or 2 yolks in between of the paste. They really look exotic and normally served with chinese teas at night. These days, due to commercials, many came with luxury boxes to contain the mooncakes and their price are expensive. Anyway, it's a nice event. You should spent more time with those crowds that night. xox.

On this day, the moon is biggest and roundest, people get together with kinsfolks (especially their parents) having a big dinner then admiring the moon. It means family reunion.

Moon-cakes are delicious. My family loves to eat them during moon cake festival. Indeed, now the flavors in moon-cakes had improved a lot. There are varieties of moon-cakes flavors are available to choose. But, for me, i still prefer to have the original flavor because it tastes much better to me. Where else, my son loves to play with the Doreamon lantern. Next year, i will buy another different lantern for him...
