Only water can stop me from traveling on bicycle

This summer i started to use my old bicycle again. I was cycling to my work and back home, some times simply around to see landscape around region i live in. But now i have new plan - traveling by using bicycle. I have few routes on my mind, but they all are in my own country. There of course are not any problems to cycle into neighboring country which is also in the European Union. Problem is a countries who are not part of European union. For example i would like to travel to Finland, but between me and Finland is nonmember of the European Union - Russia and Baltic sea. So there is problem - Finland is separated from neighboring European union countries in the south from it by the sea. Someone will tell me that nothing is impossible - i can cycle to Finland from other direction - from the west, but for God sake it is 10x times longer route!

I too enjoy cycling. It is a good exercise for the body. Funny enough after age 10, I stopped riding a bike. Years later I bought a beautiful red Manhattan Street Cruiser and surprised myself! It took me several minutes to get on my bike and steady myself, but when I finally gained confidence, I just rode and rode and rode. I used to enjoy my Manhattan Cruiser until it got stolen in front of a Fiesta grocery store in Houston in broad daylight! My red Manhattan Street Cruiser was so pretty some people thought it was a mini motorbike. Each time I parked it, people came closer to take a look. Boy, I miss my red Manhattan Street Cruiser. Hope to replace it soon.

In my younger days I kept very fit by cycling to and from work. I also cycled to the supermarkets which were 3 miles and 4 miles away. I lived in a hilly county and had to cycle along paths plus country lanes. I had to have lights on my bike after dark. I live in England and took my bike home from the Netherlands. It went with me on Dutch and Belgium trains and then it went on Euro Star. It had to be packaged separately than myself. Whilst I lived and studied in the Netherlands I often cycled around and took my bike on the trains. Maybe there is a ferry from Estonia to Helsinki that will take bikes. It can be hard to get a visa for Russia from my own personal experience. There is a train from Helsinki to St Petersburg. Possibly you could go cycling in Sweden, Latvia or Lithuania. Good luck.

Yes, there is ferry line between Tallinn and Helsinki and once i used it by my own, but this is the situation when i want to travel only on bicycle, not any kind of different transportation systems. ;)
