Just want to recall a long distance call between my son and me, two days ago and I thought it would be good to share. As some of you will know that I travel an awful lot due to my work and due to some unforeseen circumstances my home trip has been indefinitely delayed. To cut the story short to this phone call, my eldest son told me how he had been trying to cook my special homemade spaghetti recipe for several weeks but just could not get it right with the pasta's base taste which had been blend. After listening to a mistake free account on what he had prepared for the ingredients of the pasta and the sauce. I just could not see what and where he had gone wrong then it dawn on me that I had not asked what he had done for preparation to serving. When he mentioned how he prepared the spaghetti, I found that he had forgotten to add salt into the pot of water used to boil the spaghetti. Now, I am sure gourmet members here will know and agree with me how important this step is. Yet, how easy it is to forget the basics and anticipate the end result with loads of intermediates. Just like us, I couldn't help recalling the times where I actually forgot to apply the basics, laying up questionably weak foundation which eventually get either mediocre results or failures. Can you recall such instances? "To succeed, you will soon learn, as I did, the importance of a solid foundation in the basics of education - literacy, both verbal and numerical, and communication skills. " - Alan Greenspan. I know sometimes it is difficult to find out what went wrong or how to go about with your work or love life but I am a firm believer in starting right, which is never neglect our basics. Basics is the basis to a matter's success or failure. Recalling the tale of 3 little pigs, I believe you would know what I mean especially on the last little pig who built his house with bricks. So, is it time for you to return to the basics?
