Yes, for all those who maybe are like me, YES the "come and lock up my door" is in the same tone as "come and knock on my door, I'll be waiting for you.." YES three's company.. YES I am a dork.. get over it. In any case, I was just on facebook and looking through a group that I've joined. A yard sell group for a local county I used to live in. This county is the type where you can keep your doors unlocked and NOT fear anything. I'm not saying it hasn't had it's share of crime and murder (well murder's a crime but when I say crime I mean theft), it has, but it's still very safe. People are very friendly, etc etc. Well There was post warning us about being sure to meet people in a safe location, and also being sure who you're buying from / what you're buying. I'm not sure if the warning was leaning more towards the former (meet in safe location) or the latter (be sure who you're buying from and what you're buying) but it spooked me. I messaged the lady asking for names as she said she'd provide it. I tell you I HATE that this world is like it is. We all have our moments where we're having a bad day etc, but I HATE when we have to fear who our neighbors are, who to trust, we have to meet in a safe place etc.. it's terrible that we have to do this. It's the best thing to do, but still.. *sigh* I guess I have dreams of an ideal society. do you have yard sale groups online, similar to craigslist, or craigslist itself that you buy from and meet people? Do you always meet them somewhere?

Nope, no yard sale groups here. Even in small, relatively safe areas, there are usually such warnings for various groups. There are a few reasons for it. One of them is that it is a bit of a legal safeguard to help avoid lawsuits if someone is careless and something bad does happen. Someone could file suit, but this safety warning helps to make it less likely that such a lawsuit would be successful.

Maybe so, but this seemed more of a warning just to be kind then it was to save one's butt.

I started an online business last July where I sell gears and accessories. I also have it posted on craigslist to get customers. Some of these items I and a friend of mine deliver ourselves. We know that there are a lot of weirdos out there, so we always suggest that we meet in safe places. It's not ideal, but I guess it's just being safe.
