The Topfree Equal Rights Association (TERA) helps women who encounter difficulty going without tops in public places in Canada and the USA, and informs the public on this issue.
Our basic claim is that women deserve equal rights.
We do not suggest that women or men should go about with bare breasts. That is every individual's decision.
We do believe that since men may choose to do so in many situations, women must also be able to at least in the same situations.
Without penalty of any kind.

So, this is an organisation which support the right of people (specially women) to be topless anytime and anywhere.
Have you hear about that? What do you think?

It is possible, but it would take a long time to implement. Also, women should be able to accept the fact that men will react differently at first.
Wouldn't it be better though if they just disallow men to be topless?

My general point was just limiting something that actually doesn't disturb the normal flow of life. If you are talking about bath and other rights, that's like controlling life and people. I believe there is a fine line between freedom in terms of rights and standards and just plain doing everything you just want to do.

You think is a solution to cut/limit someone's freedom of choice? If that is ok and accepted, the question is when will be next imitation and related to what other rights ..
Then why not limit taking a bath / shower rights to one per week. So we will have a huge reducing of energy consume and far less clean water used ...

hehe, I had no doubts that, if you'll discover this topic, your reaction would be sort of "women must be equal with men and that's for we should bla bla bla? Equal with men? rofl, what for?"
Well, you see, those gals are pointing exactly this - oversexualization of b.oobs and ...
...
What? B.oobs? Where?

We are talking equal rights here not whether it is moral or even attractive. Once I would drive the girls wild with my beautiful torso - now they run a mile!
There is a time and a place for all things and stripping off to walk down the high street is not the time or the place.
But going topless in the local park to take the lunch hour sun is fine with me. Also, it gives you somewhere to put your salt for your celery.
I'm all for equal rights and equal pay.

Hello, Wmraul. I haven't heard of this group, but I have to say I don't agree with this sort of 'demand,' simply because I think most women don't want to go about topless. It's just a small, vocal minority who want to do it.
I think it all comes down to acceptable behaviour, and I don't think it's acceptable for women - or men for that matter - to go around topless in towns and cities. It's okay on the beach or by the poolside if that's what they want, but we've been wearing clothes for thousands of years now. This is a retrograde step, IMO.

I agree that probably majority of women not even think to walk topless on street - majority of women would avoid to be topless even in their own home while home-alone or with their husbands ...
Yet, if we agreed to tolerate homosexuality to be exposed on streets, this topless thing is no big deal.

Hello Raul,
I don't know what would I think. but only if there aren't perverts in the world. you can't have that happening in third world country's like mine. there's a reason why women covered their tops to prevent animal men going after them or simply it shouldn't be the case since we are in the modern world. maybe it's alright for US and Europe because women are liberated there.

I don't think there is a law to punish a topless woman. At least in our country there isn't. Or I ain't aware of it?
But there may be countries with laws that forbid women to walk topless wherever they want, who knows?
Anyway, I don't think it is a priviledge to have this right. (I'm speaking from a woman's point of view
) I don't think it would be a pleasant experience to have all the men staring at me while walking. Even if their looks were only admirative, it would still be bothering.
(I'm sure things look different from a man's point of view)

Honestly, I am not sure about being legal or not, but one is for sure - if there is no direct explicit law, there are for sure other at least 2 other laws which are somehow related and which law-enforcement force can use against ..
Yet again - is not about "women SHOULD or HAVE to walk topless. Is about the legal right to do it, if want to do it. I bet that once granted this "right", soon will be barely used ...

i think this is very risky, and would entail so much. it would requires laws to be delivered and passed, would require budget for the matter to be passed as law, when there is so little significance of why it has to be done. i could not understand in the first place the sense of equality here.
