A load of worry over nothing in the end!

As some of you might know, last week I was getting a bit worked up over having my picture taken with a proffessional photographer, a gift from a friend. Well he was booked to come to my house at 1pm and so after doing a few chores outside the house I returned at around 11.30 with my friend to wait for him. He had left a message on my answerphone to ask if it was still ok to come and so I text him back and said yes that we were sat there waiting. My mobile phone sent me an acknowledgement that my message had been delivered so we got ourselves ready and waited. One o'clock came and he didn't show then at 2 I got a message to say he had only just got my message and he could come at 4 or possibly the next day which wasn't convenient for me at all. I think the moment has now gone and want to ask him for a refund. What would you guys do?

Oh yes this does not sound professional at all. First of all he called and left a message saying could he come at such and such time. As a professional it was his responsibility to make sure that he tried you again to assure if he needed to block off the time. I would be leery about any future work with him as this to me sounds like once paid ahead of time, there is no need to satisfy a customer. If so, he has got it all wrong. We do not continue doing business, and granted you did not pay for it but somebody did and it is you and your friend who will be spreading word of mouth about his services. Shame because his lack of communication does supersede his perhaps talent. I too would ask for a refund, providing there is no clause in the contract that prohibits it and pretty much would not trust that he would get the photos to me in a reasonable amount of time. Too bad "so called" business people as himself does not understand the concept that a satisfied customer will be his best marketing avenue.

Hi ya hardworkinggurl Well the day and time had been booked in advance and he was ringing to confirm the booking was still going ahead as he was half an hours drive from me but for all he could have known I might have been at work that morning so he should have called me the day before and if he didn't get hold of me the first time he should have tried again not called and hour or so before he was due to arrive! Also my friend that had bought it as a gift for me gave me some money to cover his fuel costs, I thought that was cheeky and should include that in his costs not as an added compulsary extra!! Cheers

Hi Humbug, I agree with you. If this is a true gift, the picture ought to be taken at a time that is most convenient for you. The moment has passed. I would definitely ask for a refund.

Hi MadaLee I also feel that he should have phoned me 24 hours prior to the booking not an hour and a half or so and he should have kept trying my number. I feel that he was very unprofessional!! Cheers

Hi Humbug, Yes, he was very unprofessional. Most people are required to give 24 hours notice when they cancel.

Sorry what I meant was that he should have phoned 24 hours prior to the time of the booking to double check and remind his clients of the booking that has been made not calling an hour or so like he did!!

Is he really a professional photographer? Because he doesn't seem very professional to me. He's not doing you a favour, you are his customer and personally I think that he ought to be offering you a heavily discounted or even free photo. If not, cancel!

I guess I would ask for a refund, if it is ok with your friend. He should have been watching his phone for your response. That is not a way to run a business. Sorry you and your friend didn't get your pictures done. What ideas did you come up with that you wanted to do during the picture taking. Hugs

Hi ya MaryLynn321 I don't think my friend could care less if I asked for a refund or not as she failed to turn up anyway hahaha We were just going to go for something really natural and simple like sitting having a coffee and chatting which is what we do and it would have been in black and white. Looks like we are going to have to get someone else to do it now but an amatuer and I am sure it will come out better, none of that plumping and fluffing of props and stuff! Cheers

Well then that would be good. Get your refund and maybe just have a friend or family member take the picture for you. If I had lived near by I would have done it for you. Good luck. Hugs

I also worry sometimes for nothing. Whenever these times happen, I just think about what things really matter and what things doesn't and are just working me up big time. You should do the same. There are things that you have to think about and things that you shouldn't think about at all.

You've gotta settle down for a bit. Worrying will only make you age faster.

Hi ya Judy890 I just hope he isn't going to try and make it difficult for me, well I am sure he's going to try and persuade me to make another booking but to be honest I would rather have the money now and buy something I really want! Cheers
