I dont understand what is good with qwerty keypad in mobiles.I can easily type very fast with t9/predictive text that too with correct spellings. I think with some practice on t9 everyone can easily compete with qwerty keypad of computer keyboard. But now every mobile company giving qwerty key pad in phones with- out understanding the its use.QWERTY key board is standard arrangements of alphabets and number on computer keyboards/type writers. The size and arrangement was designed according to our fingers. When we type on any qwerty keyboard our all fingers work(for everyone who have learned typing) , whereas typing on mobile is completely different. All the time its our thumbs are in action.. "Can you imaging keeping your QWERTY keypad phone on desk and use all your finger to type?(according to standard typing rules if you have learned typing you know that)haha ..you cant. The only advantage with qwerty keypad in mobiles is to type short cut words messages which are not in predictive texts dictionaries,we can add new words manually though. I love typing with t9.

surely, in qwerty our thumb will have to work more. we can't type with all our fingers as we do in computer keyboard, you have mentioned it. but i prefer qwerty rather than t9 mode. as we all use computer and mobiles, and the similarity will help the mind to type more fast even if we are not using the same fingers in keyboard and qwerty. And practice makes man perfect, so if we are experienced in normal keypad with t9, then it will be easy for us, same way if we are more familiar with qwerty it will be easy for us, thats all

I am also fond of the t9, since I learned to use mobile phones. However, one day a friend of mine sent me a message with the text "1'm 6o1n6 to meet w1th @ fr1end f1rst". I had to call him to ask what he sent, it was "I'm going to meet with a friend first". Turned out, his number 2 and 4 keys (which are also keys for a,b,c,g,h, and i) were not functioning. That was the day I appreciated QWERTY keys for mobile phones.

Ah! was that a software problem in any of your phones either yours or your friend? I have never faced such problem but t9 is more complex so it is possible. I think after some time all mobile phone will be coming with a standard jack to connect a computer keyboard to mobile phones when there is a need to type long texts messages or paragraphs.

not software, but unit problem. Imagine that losing two keys would translate to losing 8 letters and 2 numbers, which is not encountered if using QWERTY keys.

Using the Qwerty key pad is easier to use because there is only one letter per key. Therefore it is faster to use, which is good for me because I am not too good at texting anyway. The phone that I have now does not have one.The phone I had before does have one,it still works.I needed to change providers and they did not have a phone with a Qwerty key board that I could afford at the time.. However,I do plan to buy another one that does have a Qwerty key pad.

Have you ever used t9/predictive texts utility?..I know qwerty key pad has one letter per key and you have to press one key only once to type.which is good but in comparison to predictive text its not that good...you can easily type a long text with correct spellings with predictive text on.Typing same content on qwerty keypad will be difficult..as I've said qwerty arrangement is designed according to our fingers and on mobile qwerty pad our fingers cant play..we only use thumbs..thats the point I am talking about.

I think that it is a lot easier for people to use QWERTY keypads than it is to use any other kind of key pad on a mobile phone. I am on my laptop all day using the same key pad, and I think that it makes it a lot easier that I can use the same kind of thing on my phone rather than having to get used to another keyboard that is different to the one that I had been using all day. I do not like using predictive texting as I find it rather annoying when it gets to the point where I keep having to correct it because it had been typing the wrong word other than the one that I actually wanted to say.

yes predictive text option gives problems sometimes when you dont get the word you are looking for and you have to exercise to print that particular word on screen.I agree..but still typing on qwerty keyboard is better than typing on compact qwerty keypad of mobiles with your thumbs.I think there are not many option when it comes to typing on mobile.

The good thing in using qwerty type of mobile phone is you will tend to type whole words compare to the typical mobile phone that you will type the word in abbreviations just to minimize the space and time. I prefer to use the qwerty type because my mispells were lessen and I used the complete words.

I agree with your opinion that just like computer we can't use all our fingers in mobile,to operate a mobile we everytime need our thumbs in action. But i think Qwerty keypad is much more easier for everyone to type fast because i can't wait understanding the t9/predictive text and i don't want to waste time in practising how to type msg in t9/predictive text.

Once you have learned it,texting with correct spellings becomes so easy.we dont have choice thats why we have to choose qwerty.otherwise it was basically designed to type with all fingers.

Although the touch screen is convenient. However, sometimes I still like to have a QWERTY keypad for the mobile phone. Since I can type it easily with such kind of keypad. Or you have to spend longer time inputing words. I love China

i love having a qwerty keyboard i can type so much faster on it it's more efficient for me. But really i think it's a part of the look how small we can make it. Everyday people are trying to make things much more compact. And this is just one of the ways look mini computer its compact also known as a laptop *(smaller one) but phones woah thats small and effect must be powerful. more marketing thats all it ever is, isn't it?
