I work long hours facing nothing but a computer monitor and after four hours or so, my eyes will begin to hurt and teary. I have consulted an optalmologist before but I wasn't advice to wear any glasses as I have a 20/20 vision. What do you think causes this pain? Does it have to do something with the pc monitor? What are alternative remedies?

The only solutions is to take a break every say 2 hours working with your computer. Take a break for 15 minutes doing something else. Your eyes are getting tired staring intently at the screen, that's why they start to ache and water. I have the same problem and I even wear glasses. The company I used to work for even put this remedy in the working instructions: 2 hours work, 15 minutes rest, for the eyes, eh.

won't it worsen the condition if i wash my eyes after hours of staring at the monitor? i can't see the connection betwen walking in the grass and pain in the eyes. But thanks for your advice anyway.

Hi stuckonu! The pain is caused by the strain you give to your eyes. As you stare to the monitor for long period of time, the eyes get tired. It's just like your feet. It hurt after a long walk, right? My eyes hurt, too sometimes after too much staring in the computer. I think it's also because the eyes exert extra effort to accommodate the brightness of the monitor. I think the best natural remedy for this is rest. Turn away from the monitor and close your eyes for a while. Look at neutral colors around you that can relax your eyes. In short, stay away from the computer for the meantime.

You forget to blink? How can you forget that? You should always make "beautiful eyes". It's good for the eyes.

Haha! That's a figure of speech just to emphasize how busy I am answering discussions and creating blogs. Beautiful eyes are so for toddlers, but I'll try it too just because you said so, as we said in the vernacular "You are strong to me" (you know what I mean in Tagalog):))

Visual acuity of 6/6 and 20/20 is the same thing because visual acuity of 6/6 means what an emmetropic person can see from a distance of 6 metres is also seen by you from the same distance of 6 metres and visual acuity of 20/20 means that from a distance of 20 feet and you know that 6 metres is more or less equal to 20 feet. Let me explain this in some more details. If someone has a visual acuity of 6/12, it means what an emmetropic person can see from a distance of 12 metres is seen by that person from a distance of 6 metres only. I think I have been able to make it clear to you.

i think first of all may be you dont have a proper sleep and if this is the case then please sleep 7-8 hours per day without any disturbance .. if this ios not the case then i think there is problem with your eye sight .. there is an exercise for the eyes in which we try to focus on a certain object for long time . so this helps us improve our vision as well as eye sight .. you should consult the eye specialist and he might tell you about this therapy

Try to rest your eyes every 6 hours or so, even it is only 15 minutes. A doctor ever told me so. You can close your eyes, seeing things around you, or anything that make your eyes relaxed. Second way, try to reduce your monitor radiation. Try to use LCD monitor instead of CRT monitor. Or you may also buy a monitor filter. Well, I think the best way is still: rest your eyes often :)

this is due to loss of energy in your eyes. dont use medicines it will give side effects in the future and also it will give some temporary relief from the pain. eat healthy foods which having rich contents of vitamin-A. also eat fish dish that will really help to avoid the affects.

thats because your eyes got tired. try looking at a thing that has a cool color. it may lessen your eye's burden..:) you can also have some breaks in between time so that your eyes will not get so stressed.
